Today, I learned never to eat Hendalanian cooking because the rumors about the vegetables are true. I'm considering going carnivore. FML.
She should have been suspicious with the look in the Doctor’s eyes but Rose hadn’t been. Like always, she took the challenge of just jumping in and ‘being native’. Sometimes you experienced something brilliant and sometimes it wasn’t, but it was always an adventure. This time, it was the not so brilliant results and it had taken everything in Rose not to spit out the food after taking a bite.
It was rough, but she’d mustered a smile while chewing and forced the food down with a swallow. There was a fervent prayer as it went down that it stayed down. However, she did reach over, under the table, and grasped the Doctor’s hand hard. Once she was sure that it wasn’t going anywhere she smiled at their Hendalanian host. “That was brilliant, thank you.”
“Have another helping, Rose.” The Doctor said with a hint of a smile.
Rather than narrow her eyes at the Doctor, she squeezed his hand even harder vowing revenge. “I’d love one, but you know that it’s against my beliefs to have seconds during the period of Raxicorisycaplutonius.” She turned her bright smile on their host. “it was lovely though. Perhaps the Doctor would love to have my seconds. I’d hate for it to go to waste.”
Before the Doctor could protest or agree to it, their host clapped their claws together and the servants tending to the festivities put down a heaping portion of the vegetables in front of him.
“Go on, enjoy it.” Rose said with a brilliant smile leaning back into her chair, trying not to appear smug.
That was deftly defeated, however, when the Doctor merely returned her wide smile with one of his own and dug into the feast. “Brilliant stuff, Hendalanian vegetables, you don’t know what you’re missing, Rose.”
By the green cast to her skin as he ate, Rose knew exactly what she was missing.

Mun: What was your character's childhood like? How has it influenced them since?
Rose grew up in a single parent home in a working class neighborhood. She might have been without a father but she didn't grow up without his influence. Jackie made sure that Pete was a big part of her daughter's life despite his death when she was an infant.
Pete being missing from her life also colored it in other ways. She changed the past and kept him alive, if only briefly. It hadn't been a conscious thought to do, it just happened when the opportunity presented itself. When she and the Doctor went into Pete's world, Rose would have risked much just to see him alive again. It was the ultimate what if. What would my life have been like with her dad in it. In the end, it was a good thing that she would have visited him come 'hell or high water' but it could have equally had disastrous results
Her life was a fairly normal upbringing. Rose went to school, hung out with her friends, had boyfriends and enjoyed life. The fact that she's secure enough in who she is to argue with the Doctor, speak her mind to strangers and not be afraid to jump in to situations with both feet is thanks to Jackie. There's a line in S2 episode, Doomsday, where Jackie says she hasn't done anything with her life and Pete responds with you brought her up and motions toward Rose. That's the truth. Everything that Rose is, is because of Jackie and how she was raised. From her stubborn determination to her empathy with others, Rose is the sum of both her parents. Whether they were physically in her life or just stories told, Jackie and Pete had much to do with it.

What's the most incredible experience you ever had?
The most incredible experience I've ever had was traveling with the Doctor. The moment that he put his hand in mine and said "run", my life has never been the same. I learned that there was more to life than working in a shop, eating chips, hanging with mates and watching Mickey watch football. I've been to other planets, been back to days that have been dead and gone, been forward in time to see the end of the world. I've helped stop World War Three, tried to help with the Sycorax, even saved the Doctor's life a few times with my tiny human brain. Through it all, the one constant, was the TARDIS. When I didn't have the Doctor I had her.
The first time I saw her, I thought the Doctor was mad. We were being chased by a headless, plastic version of my boyfriend at the time. Yeah, that's another story for another day. Anyways, the Doctor ran inside this wooden blue box. No way was I going to follow him inside. That was suicide, but the fence was too high to climb, the gate was locked, there really wasn't any choice. After a few panicked moments, I thought what the hell and followed him inside. That's when I learned about Time Lord science, it was bigger on the inside. The Doctor assured me that the combined forces of Genghis Khan couldn't get inside, that we were safe. He was right. I always felt safe when I was inside the TARDIS, a little weirded out at first to be inside a ship that was alive but always welcomed. The hum lulled me to sleep at night, the constant noise and need to balance myself with the jerking motions became second nature. The TARDIS took me on adventures, welcomed me back and most of all allowed me to save the Doctor whenI he needed it most.
It took me days to be able to fall asleep easily after I wasn't on board her anymore. I know the Doctor has a deep bond with his ship, but I never really understood it until I didn't have her around. I don't have the same connection that he does with it, not even close, but I did have a sense of losing something of myself when she wasn't there anymore. Maybe it was the two years I spent on her with the Doctor or maybe it was the residual effect of our connection when I looked into the heart of the TARDIS. Doesn't matter, not really, it's something that I share with the Doctor if only a little bit.
The most incredible experience I've ever had was stepping into a wooden blue box and saw the wonder of the TARDIS.
