About Us

CODCon is a free, all-ages comic convention celebrating comic books, their creators and their fans. The vision for CODCon was to create a regional celebration of comic art, storytelling, and creativity while bringing together artists, readers and community members for a day full of imagination and fun.

The idea for CODCon came from Hyannis Public Library's then Youth Services Librarian, Kelly Depin, who wanted to encourage kids and families to understand the importance of graphic novels, or comics, as a literacy tool and create a fun event that would attract people to the Library. HPL received grants from Mass Cultural Council and the Mid-Cape Cultural Council to support the panels and workshops.

When the time came for planning, HPL enlisted the help of the Yarmouth Town Libraries' Youth Services Department (Rebecca Goode and Mindy Herington) and local sequential artists Craig Florence and Gabe Ribeiro to put together an event featuring an Artists' Alley, vendors, table top and video games, kids' crafts, face painters, panels, workshops and a fabulous cosplay contest. People enjoyed it so much that we held a second event in collaboration with The Cordial Eye Gallery and Artist Space.

Each year, CODCon has grown both in attendance and in number of artists and vendors. Owing to construction at Hyannis Public Library, we decided to go all out and host the event at the Margaritaville Resort Cape Cod, so we have plenty of room for everyone!
