Holiday Solidarity

December 18, 2025

The Civil Liberties Defense Center team extends holiday wishes to those observing Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Solstice, Yule, and other end-of-year celebrations and traditions. These occasions of gathering and reflection hold diverse meanings for different communities, but are principally tied to themes of endurance, memory, solidarity, and collective responsibility – values that remain central to CLDC’s mission.

At the same time, the holidays can sharpen awareness of who is missing from our tables. We hold in mind those who are incarcerated, separated from their families by systems of punishment, as well as communities living under the weight of war, displacement, and ongoing conflict throughout all corners of the globe.

Our solidarity must not pause for the vacation season. As we enter the new year, we remain committed to defending civil liberties, challenging state violence, and standing with those most directly impacted, during these holidays and beyond.

CLDC maintains ongoing relationships with our incarcerated clients, providing legal support while they navigate the harsh realities of the prison system. We encourage readers to remain informed about the critical support needs of CLDC’s favorite current political prisoners, Marius Mason, Malik Muhammad, Brian “Peppy” DiPippa, and Hridindu Roychowdhury, whose cases remind us why consistent solidarity matters. While we find time to rejuvenate during the holiday season, keep our comrades behind bars in your hearts and minds. Imagine if the roles were reversed – how transformational something as simple as a letter, poem, or small gift would be. Please write to Marius, Malik, Peppy, or Hridindu today!
