About Us

We're Not Your Average Remodeling Company

Charleene’s Houses is a woman-led, design-build remodeling firm based in Phoenix, Maryland, serving Towson, Ruxton, Lutherville, Timonium, Phoenix, Cockeysville, and Reisterstown. We handle everything, design, construction, and finishes so you don’t have to juggle contractors, designers, and a hundred different vendors. You come to us, and we take it from there.

We’re master space planners. That means before we ever talk about construction, we look at how you live in your home  and figure out how to make it work better for you. Sometimes that means a full renovation. Sometimes it means something smarter and more cost-effective than you ever imagined. Either way, we make sure it’s beautiful when we’re done.

That’s not a marketing promise. That’s just how we operate.

Designed for how you live

Design before anything else

You see exactly what you’re getting before a single wall comes down. Full floor plans, 3D renderings, and a video walkthrough of your finished space, all created before construction begins.

Decades-long trade partnerships.

Our tradespeople have worked with Charleene’s Houses for 17 to 20 years. They know our standards, they respect our clients, and they show up. That consistency is something you can’t find with a company that’s hiring new crews every season.

Designed around your life.

We’re a woman-led firm, and we think that matters. We think about the morning school rush, where the backpacks land, and how the kitchen connects to the rest of the house. We design for how families actually live, not how a showroom says they should.

A Clear Path From Day One

Every project follows our proven four-step process. No surprises, no scope creep, no guesswork.

Don't Take Our Word For It

Our clients say it best.

About The Owner

Meet Charleene

Charleene Doverspike has been transforming homes since 1987, and she hasn’t slowed down.

She started her career renovating row homes on Capitol Hill, then expanded to larger projects in Virginia before relocating to Baltimore in 1995. Here, she built a name for herself doing something most contractors weren’t doing: blending historic charm with modern design in a way that felt intentional, not forced.

By 1999, demand for her personalized approach had grown significantly enough that she took the next step — securing her MHIC contractor’s license and founding Charleene’s Houses as her own design-build firm. More than 25 years later and she’s still hands-on in her company. Still personally involved in consultations. Still making sure every single project finishes the way she’d want her own home to look.

She’ll be the first to tell you she’s not interested in fast, cheap, or generic. Never has been. She built this company on the belief that beautiful, thoughtful spaces are what people deserve — and that belief hasn’t changed in 40 years.

Let's talk about what's possible.
