FAQs
HOW DO I ACCEPT MY FINANCIAL AID OFFER?
Because they do not need to be repaid, grants and scholarships are automatically accepted on your behalf (unless CCBS is notified in writing within 7 days of disbursement). If you choose to accept Direct Loans, you must submit a completed Student Loan Authorization Form to the Financial Aid Office.
WHEN WILL MY FINANCIAL AID BE DISBURSED?
CCBS makes every effort to disburse federal student aid during the third week of each semester.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY EXCESS FUNDS?
If there are excess funds to disburse, they will be released to students via check within 14 days of disbursement, unless the school has reason to believe you have stopped attending your current courses.
WHAT IF I WANT TO CHANGE MY LOAN SELECTION?
Students can reduce/cancel their loan selections by completing and submitting the Loan Adjustment Form to the Financial Aid Office.
WILL I RECEIVE A REFUND IF I WITHDRAW FROM MY COURSE(S)?
Students who drop a course before the end of the Drop/Add Period (see Academic Catalog – Changes in Registration) will be eligible for the following refunds depending on the length of class:
16-Week Seated Classes
Before the end of Week 2 – 100% of the tuition will be refunded
Within Week 3 – 75% of the tuition will be refunded
After the end of Week 3 – 0% of the tuition will be refunded
8-Week Online or Intensive Classes
Before the end of Week 1 – 100% of the tuition will be refunded
After Week 1 – 0% of the tuition will be refunded
The refund policy applies to both audit and credit students.
WHAT HAPPENS TO MY FEDERAL STUDENT AID IF I WITHDRAW OR DROP COURSES?
When calculating a refund of student aid, the Return to Title IV calculation worksheets provided by The Department of Education will be used. All tuition charges and withdrawal requests are subject to review, and students who withdraw may be responsible for paying back part or all of their financial aid disbursement for that semester. In addition, withdrawals may have an impact on a student’s eligibility for future financial aid. Please contact the Financial Aid Director for details. Information about the student’s institutional costs, the total paid towards institutional costs, the portion paid by financial aid, and the student’s scheduled cash payments will be determined by the Financial Aid department.

PENALTIES FOR DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
As of July 1, 2023, drug convictions no longer affect federal student aid eligibility. The FAFSA Simplification Act eliminated the policy that suspended eligibility for students with a drug conviction.
