D2.2 - Mapping the Gap Report

The Mapping the Gap report provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of long-term care – particularly informal care for older people – and highlights the persistent gender divide that characterises caregiving across Europe. Developed within the framework of the CareDivide – Bridging the gender divide in informal long-term care project, the report seeks to deepen understanding of how gendered caregiving patterns shape women’s participation in the labour market and reinforce existing inequalities. This transnational report is the outcome of coordinated efforts by project partners in Romania, Cyprus, Greece, Spain, and Italy, who contributed evidence and perspectives through their National Summary Reports. Drawing on literature reviews of legal frameworks, policies, gender stereotypes, and work-life balance measures, as well as insights gathered through co-creation workshops with employers and individuals who (may) provide informal care, the report aims not only to map the challenges but also to showcase good practices, tools, and resources that can support a more equitable and sustainable approach to informal long-term care.
