Position Summary

The Junior Counselor is responsible for assisting the Senior Counselor in facilitating the day-to-day programming of the bunk and maintaining the overall health and safety of each camper in the group, while simultaneously working to meet the goals and objectives of camp. The Junior Counselor will be a leader and positive role model for their campers while supporting the Senior Counselor to deliver an incredible summer camp experience.

Essential Functions

• Actively participate in all programs as assigned.
• Collaborate with the assigned Senior Counselor to implement activities that meet the needs of your campers.
• Assist the Senior Counselor in leading the group, and guiding campers through daily activities.
• Understand your camper’s strengths, weaknesses, likes, and dislikes, to help them get the full camp experience.
• Play an active role in keeping your campers safe, happy, and engaged.
• Be a positive, supportive role model for campers and other staff.
• Complete daily administrative tasks as assigned.
• Abide by all Camp Yonnie rules and regulations and health and safety protocols.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Senior Counselors play a key role in creating a safe, fun, and meaningful camp experience for our campers while serving as positive role models and leaders. Senior Counselors are responsible for leading a bunk of campers alongside their Junior Counselor. They help guide daily activities, support campers’ social and emotional growth, and build a warm, welcoming environment where every child feels safe, valued, and excited to be at camp. Senior Counselors take the lead in running bunk activities and transitions throughout the day.

• Actively participates in all programs and encourages participation from their campers.
• Completes all written work accurately and timely.
• Understands campers’ strengths, weaknesses, likes, and dislikes, to help them engage with the camp experience.
• Guides campers through daily activities.
• Collaborates with the Junior Counselor to plan, organize, and facilitate programs that meet the unique needs and interests of each camper.
• Serves as a positive role model for campers and Junior Counselors.
• Fosters a positive and welcoming environment where everyone feels part of the team, while ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of your campers.
• Abides by all Camp Yonnie rules and regulations and health and safety protocols.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
