CADAM 1.4

CADAM is a specialized engineering application developed at Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal for the analysis and safety evaluation of concrete gravity dams. It focuses on 2D, cross-section-based modeling to help engineers assess structural stability under static and seismic loads. CADAM supports typical dam safety checks—such as sliding, overturning, cracking, and uplift—and accounts for dam–foundation–reservoir interaction using well-established analytical approaches.

Key capabilities include:

• Definition of load cases and combinations (e.g., dead load, hydrostatic pressure, uplift, thermal effects, ice and silt pressures, and earthquake loading)
• Stability checks and demand–capacity metrics for regulatory reviews
• Visualization of displacements, stresses, and crack profiles
• Transparent, engineering-style outputs and reports suitable for documentation and peer review

Developed through academic research and industry collaboration, CADAM is used by dam owners, consultants, and researchers to support dam safety reviews, performance assessments, and rehabilitation studies.
