Updated Comics List

Update 2013: Wow, this is out of date.  I need to update these all in Goodreads...

Last Week

Last week was a difficult week for me emotionally. I was stressed about
health and relationship issues, and it made me depressed and touchy. Luckily
I was surrounded by good people who were very patient with me, and
ultimately the week ended on a high note. I got to spend a lot of time with
mishiell last week, which was especially nice because I needed a
chance to reconnect with her.

Last Sunday was a really pleasant day. icespark and I slept in
ridiculously late and then we went out to Outback before meeting drakefenwick, Jobe, and elbanditorojo for a last-minute birthday Runebound
game night. We still didn't get to complete a game, but we did come a lot
closer than the last time we played. I hadn't expected to see Elbanditorojo
that weekend, so his unexpected freedom was an enjoyable surprise.

Last Monday I went to my first radiation oncologist appointment. The
appointment went well – Dr. Leagre was very reassuring, and was happy to
oblige my request to move my treatments to closer-to-home Methodist
Hospital. It meant switching radiation oncologists, but I like Dr. Yeh just
as much. After my appointment I headed to work. I had to work late since I
traded with Napl so I could go to the doctor's appt, so Monday night
Icespark and I skipped MUXing and went to bed relatively early.

Last Tuesday I went to another doctor's appointment to meet Dr. Yeh, my new
radiation oncologist. lildomino picked me up at work and brought
me to Methodist Hospital Radiation Therapy. I thought I'd just meet Dr. Yeh
and he'd give me the same rundown Dr. Leagre did, but while I was there he
had them CAT scan me as well in preparation for my radiation treatments. He
answered more of the questions I'd had, and although the appointment lasted
a lot longer than I'd planned, I felt like I got a lot accomplished in one
visit.

After work I went over to Mishiell's to spend the night with her for her
birthday Wednesday. Mishiell and I had dinner at Texas Roadhouse and then
stopped by Trader Joe's to pick up ingredients for breakfast. When we got
back to Mishiell's apartment we snuggled on the couch and watched Firefly
until we were both ready for bed.

Wednesday I had the day off for Mishiell's birthday, so we slept in and
Mishiell made breakfast. I had to run up to my urologist's so they could
take more blood, and then when I returned Mishiell napped while I watched
the History Channel's specials on end of the world scenarios – happy
birthday, Mishiell!

Wednesday night Mishiell and I met up with Tojo, and the three of us went to
see Mudkids, Flobots, and Matisyahu at the Murat Egyptian Room for
Mishiell's birthday. After the concert I headed off so Mishiell and Tojo
could have the night alone, and went over to LilDomino's to snuggle and fall
asleep with her to The Colbert Report.

Thursday night cassiopia drove in from Illinois to see me. She
was worried about her new tattoo, but she stopped in on the way to Indy and
her tattoo shop reassured her it was healing just fine. Cassiopia's visit
was a short one, but it was good to catch up with her since I didn't get to
see her for her important rites weekend. We snuggled and she spent the
night, and I get to see her again for Halloween.

Friday night after work I got back together with Mishiell for her birthday
weekend. We had dinner, and then started in on two days devoted to the Star
Trek Roleplaying Game
. I have to love a woman whose request for birthday
weekend activities includes role-playing Star Trek. *^_^* I had a great
time with her, not just for the role-playing, but also for the chance to
hang out with in an unhurried, non-sleepy setting.

Saturday Mishiell and slept in again and then went out to Le Peep for
breakfast. We hit the knit shop, so Mishiell could stock up on yarn.
Coincidently they were having a clearance sale, so Mishiell spent way too much, and then we headed home to role-play more Star Trek. We ordered in Jimmy Johns so we
didn't have to venture out, and spent the evening role-playing and
snuggling.

The weekend was just what I needed. Mishiell had backed off from me a bit
since I'd gotten sick, mostly so she didn't get in the way of everyone else
who was wanting to take care of me (I have an abundance of good fortunes!).
This coincided with some NRE on her part, which left me feeling a little
insecure. A weekend of snuggling and catching up was perfect for making me
feel better in a lot of ways. Love you, Mishiell!

My Week

This week has been spent mostly recovering from my surgery last Thursday. I’ve been exceedingly lucky to have very sweet girlfriends who have been going out of their way to take care of me and to make things as easy for me as possible. I got an infection in my lungs that made part of this week rather uncomfortable, but otherwise things are going well overall.

Sunday I slept in and spent the morning with icespark. In the afternoon lildomino and hotarugirl came over and brought the four of us food. We all ate dinner, and then Icespark headed home. Lildomino, Hotarugirl, and I hung out, watching episodes of Pushing Daisies and an episode of Star Trek Next Generation. Hotarugirl helped Lildomino study while I putzed on the computer.

Monday I hung out with Hotarugirl while Lildomino was in class. When Lildomino got back the three of us had lunch and snuggled until Hotarugirl had to head home. Lildomino took me to Icespark’s, where I was looking forward to being able to get on the MUX before 10 PM for a change. However, by the time I got on I wasn’t feeling that great, so I idled watching Heroes, and then took a Vicodin and went to lie down.

Tuesday I hung out at Icespark’s while she teleworked, and then she took me home so mishiell could come over for a short visit. Mishiell brought me dinner. We ate, and were snuggled up to watch Firefly when pandara called to say she was downstairs. I had security let her in, and she joined Mishiell and me in my bed, with me in the middle. The three of us cuddled and watched “Bushwacked,” and when the disc was over we joked and teased while I enjoyed their company.

Wednesday ona_tangent came to visit from St. Louis! Lildomino picked her up at the bus station and brought her over with lunch for the three of us. We ate and hung out until Lildomino had to head home to take a test online. Ona_Tangent and I spent the rest of the night hanging out, catching up, and watching funny videos online. Ona_Tangent eventually went to bed since she wasn’t feeling well, and I joined her soon after.

Ona_Tangent and I spent most of Thursday in bed, until we had to get up and dressed for Icespark to pick us up for dinner. Icespark took us to Murphy's Steak House and treated us to an excellent dinner. After Icespark headed home, Ona_Tangent and I returned to our previous sloth-like existence. Ona_Tangent and I did take the time to have a long Relationship Talk, and discuss how labels were creating unrealistic expectations that I can’t hope to live up to. Here’s hoping she and I can work out a solution.

Friday morning I woke up coughing my head off, and after resisting Ona_Tangent’s advice all week, finally called Dr. Moretto and got an appointment. The doc checked my lungs and said I had an infection, but also assured me that the prognosis for my testicular cancer was good or else I’d have heard back from my urologist already. I got medication and spend the day recovering with Ona_Tangent.

Saturday Ona_Tangent had to head back to St. Louis, so I took her to the bus station and we bid farewells. I spent most of the day alone, puttering around my apartment, reading, and attempting to get things done. When Lildomino got a break from work she brought me food, and we grabbed a nap (my second that day!) before she headed back out. She came back to sleep, and in time I joined her.

It’s been a week of sickliness, but also of seeing people I never get to see. It’s sad that I missed seeing cassiopia this weekend since I was too sick to drive seven hours to the Grove. It was nice though to get unexpected time with Hotarugirl and Ona_Tangent at the beginning and end of the week. I have my follow-up appointment with my urologist this Wednesday, and then back to work Friday.

Week in Review

This week has been relatively better. My mom was really bad during the middle of the week, but she seems to be getting better again – the difference between Wednesday and yesterday was startling. I’m hoping this will hold, and she can start getting her life back together. I still don’t know if she has to move by October 1st, but she seems intent on staying, so I guess I’ll not worry.

The week started out well. On Sunday lildomino, hotarugirl and I went to the Indy Irish Fest for breakfast and to see the kilt race. I escaped the festival without spending much money, and then Hotarugirl and I went back to Lildomino’s while Lildomino went to work. I was dead-tired all morning from staying out late at cmhusted and Jalyru’s, so Hotarugirl insisted I nap until Lildomino got home. We all had dinner together, and then Hotarugirl and I role-played while Lildomino got some sleep. It was excellent to see Hotarugirl and get some rare role-playing in before Hotarugirl had to head back to E’ville.

Monday icespark and I ran a Jem and the Holograms TinyPlot on the tfumux. I was expecting some snarky amusement, but I was completely unprepared for the level of straight-out fun I had playing Kimber of the Holograms against sydneygb’s Major Bludd. I could almost picture him twirling his metaphorical mustache in old skool villainy. I had the most fun I’ve had on the MUX on a while.

Tuesday I wanted to be productive, so Lildomino lured me over to her house to get things done while she studied. This actually works out rather well, since I get less distracted at Lildomino’s house (as long as she doesn’t have the TV on), and it’s nice to just have Lildomino around in general. B^) Lildomino went to bed early and I joined her, getting a good night sleep for a change.

Wednesday I’d planned another productivity night at home so I could do laundry and maybe continue the MUX TP I’d started Monday. Icespark would up having a really horrible day, so I invited her to come over and hang out with me while I putzed around. I took an hour out to nestle in with her and watch prerecorded media, and then she snuggled up next to me while I got back on the MUX to play an entertaining interrogation scene between Kimber and Major Bludd.

Thursday after work I went to mishiell’s, and we ran out to grab Chinese food before cuddling up and watching Firefly, finally finishing the pilot, which we’d started watching during a previous get-together. Mishiell wasn’t feeling very energetic, so we took it easy and went to bed early. This led me to getting another good night’s sleep, which might possibly be a new record.

Tonight I plan to get together with Lildomino. Unfortunately, this is my last weekday for at least a month where I’ll get out before 10 PM, so Lildomino and I are going to take advantage of our last night for a while to hang out before she’s asleep (she has early-morning class and work most days). I’m not sure what we’ll do yet, although I wouldn’t be surprised if it involves hanging out on laptops. Edit: We got yummy Cuban sammiches and are going to try to watch TV over the Internets.

Tomorrow Lildomino and I plan to sleep in while we can, and then go to Pagan Pride Day. Tomorrow evening Icespark is getting to play with the Circle City Socialites at their first bout, so that should be fun and exciting. Afterward we were invited to a showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, but presumably Icespark will be so bruised and exhausted that I’ll probably feed her, prop her up on some pillows, ice her joints, and play DVDs.

Have a good weekend, everyone! Hope to see some of you Indy folks at PPD and/or the bout!

I had a very pleasant weekend. Friday icespark came over after work and we went to IHOP for a late-night dinner before going back to my apartment to check out the new Chinese Transformers DVD set that I recently found. We were both extremely tired, so we only had the energy to watch one episode before we passed out.

Saturday I got together with lildomino and hotarugirl, and we went to a beauty school so lildomino could get a facial, hotarugirl could get a pedicure, and lildomino and I could get our hair trimmed. I got about twelve centimeters cut off the end of my hair, but it’s long enough that you can’t really tell. The rest of the weekend was a cozy blur of snuggling, eating, sleeping, working on lildomino’s Accelerated Nursing application, eating, sleeping, and finally introducing lildomino to Firefly.

Tonight when I get off work I’m MUXing. With luck, the mindswap TP will still be going on… I’ve been having a surprising amount of fun with that plot. Tomorrow I’m hanging out with lildomino and hotarugirl again for her actual birthday, and cooking her dinner well as running a World of Darkness roleplaying session for her. Nerd love abounds! There will presumably be birthday spankings and snuggles as well at some point. >=^)

ona_tangent – Whole Day Off

I had a really pleasant day off yesterday. ona_tangent is in town visiting me from St. Louis, and we slept in before going out for a yummy breakfast at Le Peep downtown. We had the Best Waitress Evar, who was charming enough that ona_tangent is talking about making her socks. After lunch ona_tangent and I went to Downtown Comics, where I picked up some graphic novels, but ona_tangent resisted since she’s not allowed to buy any more comics ‘til she finishes reading what she owns already.

After the comic store, ona_tangent was good enough to wait while I got my driver’s license renewed, which luckily didn’t take very long at all. Then we both went to the Mass Ave. Knit Shop, where we hung out for a couple of hours while ona_tangent browsed and talked shop with the owner and a woman who worked there. By the time we were done at Mass Ave., lemur_lady was off work, so ona_tangent and I headed down to Bloomington.

In Bloomington we picked up lemur_lady, and the three of us went to another yarn store and then to a book shop. Taking a cue from ona_tangent, I resisted buying any more new books until I read more of the ones I have. Next lemur_lady, ona_tangent, and I went to the Runcible Spoon for a very tasty dinner. I spent most of the meal listening to lemur_lady and ona_tangent geek out about dyeing and knitting – it was cute and interesting, and a good karma balance to anyone who’s had to listen to me geek about comics and role-playing.

Alas, lemur_lady had to get home all-too-early, so ona_tangent and I dropped her off at her house and headed back to Indianapolis. We stopped at Ghetto Kroger to pick up food so that ona_tangent wouldn’t starve in my apartment today while I am at work, and ona_tangent picked up cookie dough as well. Once we got home, we made cookies, snuggled, and watched Firefly and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Hanging out with ona_tangent was the perfect way to spend a day off, and to cap off a three-day weekend. Since we had no real plans or schedule besides “try to get my license renewed” and “meet lemur_lady for dinner,” the entire day felt lazy and unrushed. It was also great to start off my birthday week with someone else I rarely get to see. I get to hang out with her again tonight, also, which should be grand.

Today work has been pretty busy, so they took me off the phones and had me work provisioning orders all day. It’s a lot less stressful for me to be doing one thing at a time work-wise, so I felt I was pretty productive and helped them out with their 200+ back orders. lildomino met me for lunch, so that was a fine surprise. I get to leave here in less than an hour, so that’s certainly excellent as well.

Tomorrow after work I’m going to visit cassiopia in Illinois, and then this weekend is my birthday, which should be frantic fun. Most people didn’t RSVP to hang out with me on Sunday, which is actually good, since I won’t be quite so stressed about entertaining 3000 people in my apartment building’s piano room. Enough people should show up for a fun game of Taboo, so that should be excitement a-plenty.
