Verde-go

the Italian word for green is ‘verde’

and I wonder, is this the etymological basis of the word vertigo?

I feel this very sensation
as leaves swirl around me,
breaking free from ancient limbs;
and land on moss-covered ground

la luce, the light, beckons me forward
illuminating my pathway out of the forest

yet I trust it not

the trickery that I’ll make it,
too great a risk

instead, I return for la mia bussola, my compass

and navigate my way back into the shadows…

Dectina Refrain, Poetry by Sarah

Tableau

Boys in a Pasture
by Winslow Homer

Two
young lads;
in pasture
conjured serene.
Pastoral tableau,
of a sunlit meadow.
Rolling hills, in sky-brushed hues.
Soft, golden glow; shadows imbue.
Landscape stretches in tranquil splendor.
Two young lads; in pasture conjured serene.

Blades
of green;
in pasture
conjured serene.
Captured in moments
of pastoral idyll.
Embodied in innocence;
of quiet pause, a tender joy.
A masterful reflection of light.
Blades of green; in pasture conjured serene.

Fibonacci, Poetry by Sarah

These Eyes

Image credit Catrin Welz-Stein

all
eyes
on me
can’t you see
I’m shrinking away
spiraling; I can’t play today

all
eyes
on you
see the truth
your gaslighting ways
my heart it breaks, yet you betray

all
eyes
on this
small voice that speaks
finding its strength, no longer meek

these
eyes
on me
better look and see
no matter what be… now I’m free
