Annexed

Annex those emotions!

Draw the borders tight!

Tuck those thoughts

those shadows

… firmly out of sight!

Feelings?

Subdue.
Hold down.

… until stilled!

Captured within walls

a fortress of will

Silent rebellions,
move quietly and deep.

Guarding,
what is mine

…but never can keep.

Boudoir

Closing door,
I vanish.
Filtered softly
through drawn curtains.

The world outside hums
…relentless

But here,
I’m untouchable.

Buried in blankets,
rustling sheets.
Drawing shadows;
curled, around myself.

Lazily, time spirals.

This is not escape.
It’s a return.
To self.
To stillness.
To breath I can control.
Here, I can simply be.

So simply, I am.

Impudence

She spoke, like the
silence owed her something.

Walked through rules,
like wet cement.

Eyes sharp. Voice flat.
No fuss. No apologies.
No pause for names.

And never, for consequences.

Chairs scrape back
whenever she arrives.

But she never cared.
Or noticed.

When questions were asked,
she answered twice.
Once the honest.
Once to dare.

At first,
they called it pride.

Then lack of grace
(or worse).

Every day,
things became
a little more
broken

apart

No matter.
She just called it, Tuesday.
