War Drums Commence with Senator Graham’s ‘Use of Force against Iran’ Resolution

Another good way to shoot the GOP in the foot just in time for the election. Graham has been out on the stump for another war. Keep in mind, the previous NDAA passed authorizes the use of federal databases to make sure all males are registered. Should make for a great Dem ad. Terrific

This week, GOP Senator Lindsey Graham introduced a joint resolution to authorize the use of United States Armed Forces against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Just like the claim of WMDs in Iraq, Graham’s claims this time Iran as an imminent nuclear danger,

SECTION 1. AUTHORIZATION FOR THE USE OF MILITARY FORCE AGAINST THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN.

The President is authorized to use all necessary and appropriate force against the Islamic Republic of Iran if the President determines that the Islamic Republic of Iran—

(1) is in the process of possessing a nuclear weapon that threatens the national security interests of the United States; or

(2) possesses uranium enriched to weapons-grade level, possesses a nuclear warhead, or possesses a delivery vehicle capable of carrying a nuclear warhead that threatens the national security interests of the United States.

SEC. 2. WAR POWERS RESOLUTION REQUIREMENTS.

(a) Specific Statutory Authorization.—Consistent with section 8(a)(1) of the War Powers Resolution (50 U.S.C. 1547(a)(1)), the Congress declares that this section is intended to constitute specific statutory authorization within the meaning of section 5(b) of the War Powers Resolution (50 U.S.C. 1544(b)).

In his resolution, Graham argues that Iran’s nuclear ambitions pose a significant threat not just to Israel but to global security. While the rhetoric may sound alarming, it is clear that this bill is less about protecting American interests and more about aligning U.S. policy with foreign objectives. This is exactly what America DOESN’T need right now, especially with the election less than 3 months away.

Keep in mind, our lawmakers also just passed an amendment as part of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that will automatically register all draft-age male U.S. residents with the Selective Service System for a possible military draft, based on information from other Federal databases. They are also trying to pass the same mandate for women as well.

Senate Dems Descend into Ruleless body as They Attack the Supreme Court.

It was a lawless day yesterday, as the Senate Judiciary descends into a ruleless body, stripping the GOP of their input on judicial nominees and more importantly moving ahead to attack the Supreme court. That didn’t take long, after yesterday’s post with Victor David Hanson  Warning: Brace Yourself For What’s Coming in 2024 – Victor Davis Hanson

Then to add icing on the cake, Dick Durbin blocked the flight logs of Jeffrey Epstein.

Townhall:

Senate Democrats threw out the rules of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday in order to launch an unprecedented attack on the United States Supreme Court. More specifically, on conservative justices and their friends.

For months Chairman Dick Durbin and Democratic Senator Sheldon Whitehouse have been trying to issue subpoenas to longtime conservative activists Leonard Leo and billionaire Harlon Crow. Leo and Crow, both private individuals, are also friends to Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.

Earlier this month, Durbin briefly backed off his conquest to subpoena Leo and Crow. Today, he blatantly disregarded Senate process and voted to do just that.

“Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats have been destroying the Supreme Court; now they are destroying the Senate. I will not cooperate with this unlawful campaign of political retribution,” Lee released in response to the move.

This is from MSNBC and their take on the action.

A few take aways.

By completely disregarding a host of Senate rules to force an illegal vote on the subpoenas of private individuals, Dick Durbin makes Joe McCarthy look like a moderate.

And a Bonus from our fellow Durbin. Why are they blocking the flight logs of Epstein?

After the Hamas attacks, what’s the wise path forward For the U.S.?

Tucker Carlson drops a new episode: “What do we do next? How do we represent the interests of the United States in this chaotic moment? That’s not a selfish question. It’s the whole point of making policy for a country, to improve and protect that country.”

Tucker Carlson - Wikipedia

Carlson gives us his take on the attack on Israel with a sober look and asks us to consider what is in the U.S. best interest. A thought provoking clip. I will give you a few highlights, then followed by the full episode.

Tucker rips Nikki Haley, Lindsey Graham, and Dan Crenshaw asking for escalation in the Middle East: “This is not sober leadership. She’s a child and this is the tantrum of a child.”

“Lindsey Graham hasn’t thought it through. He’s almost 70 years old and he has no children.”

“Texas Congressman Dan Crenshaw took to social media to call for a ‘war to end all wars’ as if there is such a thing. But of course there isn’t such a thing. Wars beget more war. The bigger the conflict, the uglier and longer-lasting the consequences. See WW1 for details.”

Ford caught in major lie, building permit in 2008 not 2012 for “two doors”

We ended up with precious few moments of any real interrogation by the “prosecutor” that the GOP hauled in for the questioning of Ford. The few claims she did make could easily be dismissed. The “fear of flying” being a case in point.

Lying to Congress is in fact a criminal matter. Clearly her statement about flying was a lie as was pointed out, she flew all over the world. The matter of her therapist notes. Did she show the Washington Post the actual notes or were they her oral representations? She didn’t know and this was only a few weeks ago? Her unwillingness to present the therapists notes to the committee. Then we had the so-called “lie detector” test and the unwillingness to acknowledge if any recordings were taken as well as other issues with it.

But the most compelling lie and the one that should clearly have her fined and jailed and totally discredited was this one:

Christine Blasey Ford told the US Senate Judiciary Committee that the memories of Brett Kavanaugh “first came up” when she went into counseling in 2012. In May 2012 Ford and her husband argued over her desire to add “a second front door” to their home. Ford told the committee on Thursday the desire for a second door was because Brett Kavanaugh made her “claustrophobic.”

As Paul Sperry reported on Thursday night. The Palo Alto building permits were issued to Ford and her husband in 2008 — NOT 2012.

Paul Sperry: Palo Alto bldg permit records raise questions about Ford’s testimony she completed an “extensive remodel” of home in 2012 & that this was seminal event that led her down path to coming out against Kavanaugh b/c she needed to add an escape door. Permit was issued in 2008.

The worst part of the hearing? Watching what appeared to be the Kavanaugh appointment slipping away by the GOP failure to intervene with the absurd non participation in the process.

Was I the only one that noticed the disbelief in Kavanaugh at the beginning of his questioning? Apparently abandoned by the GOP, the “prosecutor” looked to be the interrogator in chief?

So now it looked like he was going to be the one on trial after the soft glove treatment of Ford.

First having him “study” a sheet of paper defining what sexual behavior was? He would be permitted from time to time to refer back to it. Apparently if he got “confused” it seems as to what it was. Including in the definition was a sexual “grinding of the genitals” of sorts? Lordy I’m thinking, here comes another coke can moment.

After three of four turns of Dem attacks and her circling back around, the GOP woke up from their slumber. Thanks in no small part to Lindsay Graham.

I will add why wasn’t Ford’s yearbook explored? After all, Kavanaugh’s half of his testimony was about his yearbook.

1982 was a particularly wild year and Scribe 82 [that year’s yearbook at her school Holton-Arms] published multiple pictures of minors drinking heavily, beer cans stacked up, liquor repeatedly glorified, “boys, beer and “the ‘Zoo’ atmosphere”.

The Kavanaugh pawing supposedly happened in 1982, during the summer after her sophomore year…

10th grade seems to have been a ritual initiation into the “Holton party scene”. Another sophomore girl threw multiple all night benders, the highlight of which featured a male erotic dancer in gold g-string…

“Lastly one cannot fail to mention the climax of the junior social scene, the party. Striving to extend our educational experience beyond the confines of the classroom, we played such intellectually stimulating games as Quarters, Mexican Dice and everyone’s favorite, Pass-Out, which usually resulted from the aforementioned two.”

The caption on the right side of the image mocks the faculty and parents, “Come on, you’re really too young to drink.”

In conclusion, I hope and pray Kavanaugh receives confirmation. He deserves it. Full stop.

As for the GOP? This comes to mind, “Get out of the old road if you can’t lend a hand, cause the times they are a changing.”
