American Pope Leo XIV – The Cardinals Sleight of Hand who Delivered a Trojan Horse?

The newly minted Catholic Pope speaks Spanish, Italian, Latin and English yet chose not to speak a word of English at his debut in Saint Peter’s Square as the white smoke had barely cleared. Spanish? But of course he had words of wisdom for those folks as well as Italian for the natives. But no words for the English speaking, and especially America. And he hails from Chicago no less. A Cardinal for just a year and a half.

I got the hint.

We don’t need to do a lot of research. As it turns out he makes his political stance well known by being quite a prolific Xer especially with his re-posts. I am sure the youth will find this attractive.

Leo XIV did a gig in Peru – a flashback occurred. South America- where the previous Pope earned his Marxist credentials.

No offense to Catholics but as a Protestant I believe we have been played by the selection of this Pope. Though should we have been surprised that we got a 2.0? He expanded the number of Cardinals and hand picked about 80 as I recall.

So here we go with what the United States will deal with as we add another divider in chief to the scene here.

Vance—for standing up for American sovereignty.

 

A review of Leo XIV’s X, account shows a pattern of left-leaning political advocacy. On February 3, he shared an article from the far-left National Catholic Reporter titled, “JD Vance is wrong: Jesus doesn’t ask us to rank our love for others”—a clear jab at Vance’s call for immigration policies that prioritize American citizens.

Just days later, on February 12, he doubled down by promoting another piece slamming Vance’s Christian worldview as it relates to border security.

The article criticized the Vice President’s defense of the ordo amoris—the Christian principle of ordering our loves and responsibilities, with special emphasis on one’s nation, family, and community.

And most recently, Leo XIV retweeted Catholic commentator Rocco Palmo’s post blasting both President Donald Trump and Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele for enforcing immigration laws.

The tweet reads, “As Trump & Bukele use Oval to Feds’ illicit deportation of a US resident (https://bit.ly/3ROMjnP), once an undoc-ed Salvadorean himself, now-DC Aux +Evelio asks, “Do you not see the suffering? Is your conscience not disturbed? How can you stay quiet?””

As a Protestant Christian I sincerely was hoping for a true conservative that would set aside politics and focus on the Word. Help to bring us together.

It was my intention with this post to express my disappointment. Not to bash any religion. When I heard on Fox from the former priest who was a regular before he lost his way, who left the church to get married and have children, opine that this was a day all Christians should celebrate including Protestants, it was one bridge too far.

Notre Dame Cathedral – Macron Wants to Replace Stain Glass Windows With Modern Design

After rumors that the Notre Dame Cathedral was going turn into some form of monstrosity after the terrible fire, everyone breathed a sigh of relief that no it would not turn into a mosque.

The Notre Dame cathedral is owned by the French Ministry of Culture and is considered national property of France. There is a deal so there can be Catholic mass but the government owns it. Thus Macron could not help himself in trying to insert himself into the project. But first, a look at the extraordinary work being done in the rebuilding.

So after all of this meticulous work, all hand crafted, we have this:

During a visit to the 13th-century cathedral this month, Macron announced the windows in six of the seven chapels in the south aisle would be removed and replaced by contemporary stained-glass windows that would be chosen in a competition.”

Besides the fact that the 19th century stained glass windows by Violet-le-Duc have become an integral part of the Cathedral’s visual and appeal, there is also the problem that the change was suggested by the new Archbishop of Paris, Laurent Ulrich, who wrote to the Élysée Palace suggesting that a series of six new windows be commissioned.

Appointed by Francis, Ulrich is a ‘reformist’ like him, so there is a natural concern that his ‘peculiar’ ideas would permeate the new windows’ artwork. – not to mention that a competition would transform the choice into a ‘popularity contest’ and may end up with poor, unsuitable choices.

As you would expect, French President Macron gave his full approval to the idea, but more than 122,000 people have signed a petition launched two weeks ago, demanding that the original windows remain.

The petition reads:

“The stained glass windows in Notre Dame designed by Viollet-le-Duc were created as a coherent whole. It is a genuine creation that the architect wanted to be faithful to the cathedral’s gothic origins.”

The cathedral is due to reopen on 8 December 2024.

For the past several years, master craftsmen have been working on restoring the stain glass windows. The finishing touch in having an exact replacement of this magnificent church. Alas to be denied?

Canadian Churches burned to the ground in ‘anti-church hate crime wave’

In Antifa like style, Canada is going through its wave of unrest and worth paying attention .In similar style of liberal nonsense, those we expect to condemn are strangely missing in action.

In a tweet on July 3, British Columbia Civil Liberties Association executive director Harsha Walia tweeted, “burn it all down,” referencing the churches.  

At least 20 churches in Canada have been burned or vandalized, and Rebel News founder Ezra Levant questioned Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s response to the mounting crime spree Wednesday on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

“This is so explicitly an anti-church hate crime wave and yet Justin Trudeau, who is normally the first and the wokest, waited a week before saying anything and he literally said ‘that’s not the way to go,'” Levant stated. 

In the last couple of weeks, a series of arsons have arisen as churches and statues are being destroyed throughout the country.

With so many stories of gloom and doom these days it is easy to forget there are true heroes toiling in the fields. Good people living their faith. Let’s visit the latest victors in their quest to live their faith. Role models for all of us. They just won a Supreme Court victory 7-2.

The Little Sisters of the Poor have reiterated their commitment to following their conscience as they care for the poor and dying, following a federal appeals court ruling that they must obey the federal contraception mandate.

“As Little Sisters of the Poor, we simply cannot choose between our care for the elderly poor and our faith,” said Mother Provincial Sr. Loraine Marie Maguire.

“And we should not have to make that choice, because it violates our nation’s commitment to ensuring that people from diverse faiths can freely follow God’s calling in their lives. For over 175 years, we have served the neediest in society with love and dignity. All we ask is to be able to continue our religious vocation free from government intrusion.

Employers who fail to comply with the mandate face crippling penalties. In the case of the Little Sisters, the fines could amount to around $2.5 million a year, or about 40 percent of the $6 million the Sisters beg for annually to run their ministry.

Notre Dame moves to cover up ‘demeaning’ Christopher Columbus mural

The latest group to be targeted now are Catholics. We got a good taste of it this weekend at the Pro Life Rally. There can be little doubt the kids attending were targeted. Heap big Indian drummer man steps up to a Covington school kids and baits them. But you know the story no need to repeat.

Now on to MLK day. Let’s keep it going with this story line. All whites very bad bringing Western Civilization to the American continent. Worse, even Catholics participated in the deed.

The aspect that should be most distressing is this is Notre Dame, The President shaming the very foundation’s religion.

 

The president of the University of Notre Dame announced Sunday that it would cover up murals of Christopher Columbus.

The president of the University of Notre Dame sent an email to all students Sunday night, informing them of the school’s decision to cover up an on-campus mural of Christopher Columbus.

President John Jenkins wrote “as we prepare to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day…at Notre Dame, I write to let you know of a recent decision,” in an email obtained by Campus Reform. “The murals by Luigi Gregori that adorn the ceremonial entrance to Notre Dame’s Main Building depict the life and exploration of Christopher Columbus.”

 

 

 

Jenkins continued by saying that the mural, which dates back to 1882-1884, was originally intended as a response to the school’s mostly Catholic immigrant population. Columbus, it is believed, was also Catholic. 

“In recent years, however, many have come to see the murals as at best blind to the consequences of Columbus’ voyage for the indigenous peoples who inhabited this ‘new’ world and at worst demeaning toward them,” Jenkins wrote.

Jenkins added that the arrival of Columbus to the “new world” was a “catastrophe” for native Americans. He added, “whatever else Columbus’ arrival brought, for these peoples it led to exploitation, expropriation of land, repression of vibrant cultures, enslavement, and new diseases causing epidemics that killed millions.”

But, Jenkins continued, the historic pieces painted on the plaster of the walls, were “not intended to slight indigenous peoples, but to encourage another marginalized group.”

“Gregori’s murals focused on the popular image of Columbus as an American hero, who was also an immigrant and a devout Catholic. The message to the Notre Dame community was that they too, though largely immigrant and Catholics, could be fully and proudly American,” he wrote.

State Department Delaying Aid Congress Provided to Yazidis, Christians in Iraq

Go figure this one out. Trying to save Christians and Yazidis in Iraq? Apparently we will leave that to the UN. But Secretary Tillerson is more than happy to bail out the Muslims in Burma. You can bet they will be getting refugee status and moving here to our quaint little towns in places like Idaho and other rural communities because that is the way this stupid stuff rolls:

Human rights activists and Catholic groups are questioning why the State Department still appears reluctant to direct money Congress appropriated to assist Christians, Yazidis, and other persecuted religious minorities in Iraq but this week quickly dispatched $32 million to help a majority Muslim group fleeing violence in Burma.

Tillerson’s quick efforts to help the Rohingya demonstrated the State Department’s ability to quickly direct humanitarian aid to a threatened minority group. However, critics say the swift action stands in sharp contrast to State’s foot-dragging when it comes to directing funds to Yazidis, Christians, and other religious minorities facing genocide in Iraq.

Despite the congressional commitment, lawmakers and human rights activists say most of the U.S. taxpayer money going to help people in Iraq is channeled through the United Nations, which has a “religion-blind” policy of distributing most of the money to refugee camps that Yazidis and Christians avoid out of fear of further violence and persecution.

“It is always good when people who are in danger are helped. But why is there a terrible disparity between our government’s treatment of the Rohingya Muslims in Burma and the absolute lack of help for Yazidis and Christians in Iraq, whom Secretary Tillerson declared last month to be victims of genocide?” asked Nina Shea, an international human rights lawyer who directs the Hudson Institute’s Center for Religious Freedom.

Catholic Chaldeans’ orders for priest to return to Iraq

I suppose this post won’t rank high on the list of important topics of the day. What with Brian Williams being shuffled off NBC.Why Williams ranks any importance beats me – but for me, this religion story should be a header. While a generation wrung their hands for not doing anything timely to stop the purge of Jews during the Nazi’s, I suggest that what is happening to the Christians throughout the world, and in the Middle East in particular is no less a genocide? So here we go with this little story that represents a moral dilemma worthy of giving thought.

Iraq once had an estimated 1.3 million Christians. That number is down to several hundred thousand, perhaps half of whom live in the relative safety of Baghdad. The patriarch and other Chaldean leaders are in Irbil, the capital of Kurdistan, which is protected by Kurdish forces and U.S. and coalition air power.Speaking in Aramaic, Father Noel Gorgis is preaching to parishioners of St. Peter Chaldean Catholic Church at a Saturday night Mass. In the United States.

Older parishioners are pleased that Gorgis celebrates Mass — and hears confessions — in Arabic and Aramaic, the ancient language of the Chaldean people. Younger parishioners appreciate Gorgis’ use of websites and live-streaming.

In his four years at St. Peter, the soft-spoken Gorgis, a naturalized U.S. citizen, has become a popular figure among the faithful, many of whom, like their priest, are immigrants from Iraq.

But the 48-year-old priest’s days at St. Peter may be dwindling. The violence that once forced him to flee his native land may now force him to return, to the dismay of parishioners.

The Chaldean patriarch, the Iraq-based church’s top official, has ordered Gorgis and several other priests to return to Iraq to stand beside the church in its hour of maximum peril. Islamic radicals are ravaging much of the country, destroying churches and killing Christians.

Since October, Patriarch Louis Sako has repeatedly said that Chaldean priests who did not seek church permission to leave must return to Iraq. To remain abroad is to put personal safety above the needs of the church and violate the sacred oath of a priest, Sako has told Aleteia, a Rome-based Catholic news agency.[…]

After serving in the army, he fled Iraq for Turkey at the time of the Gulf War. In 1992, he was admitted into the U.S. as a refugee and came to El Cajon. The Chaldean church helped support him.

The church sent to him to parishes in Chicago and Arizona and in 2002, to St. Paul Assyrian Chaldean Catholic Church in North Hollywood. In 2011, he was assigned to El Cajon, where two Chaldean churches, St. Peter and St. Michael, minister to about 3,000 families.

When the U.S. moved in 2003 to depose Hussein, Gorgis was quick to call the move not an invasion but a liberation. “I am an American, 100 percent,” he said recently.

The Chaldean Catholic Church shares the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and considers itself “in full communion” with the Vatican. But for complex historical reasons, the governance of the Chaldean church is largely separate from Rome, and the relationship between the two is dotted with disputes over authority.

This will force Catholic individuals and institutions to act against their consciences. All across the nation..”

PELOSI: “Is this a speech or do we have a question disguised as speech?”

QUESTION:We cannot and will not comply with this law.  Will you stand with your fellow Catholics in opposing this law?

PELOSI:  I’m going to stand with my fellow Catholics in supporting the administration on this. I think it was a very courageous decision that they made and I support it.
