Brooks Construction Company firmly believes that our customers deserve the best — so we design and test our asphalt mixes to ensure that’s what they get.
In our Quality Control lab, certified technicians conduct a battery of tests on materials, from raw aggregates to final job pavements, to verify composition and durability of the mixes we lay down. We continually monitor the quality of our products throughout the day and make adjustments to ensure that our customers are fully satisfied with the quality of our work.
For example, some customers require complex quality control testing, which may include pulling plate samples or testing density on-site. Trained personnel use AASHTO and ASTM methods and volumetric testing during production and lay-down to monitor our quality closely. We work in concert with our customer’s testing labs to ensure that customers are getting the high quality product that they expect from Brooks Construction.

Our Lab
For over 20 years, our lab has been accredited by AASHTO. In fact, we were the first contractor in Indiana to receive such accreditation – about the same time as INDOT! To maintain this status, we are inspected onsite periodically for proficiency and process, as well as participate in regular round robin proficiency sample testing.
In addition to quality control, our lab also designs mixes for our customers so that they receive a pavement that best suits their needs. Being familiar with materials like slag, RAP, shingles, innovative materials, and the wide variety of aggregates native to northeast Indiana, our technicians have the expertise and experience to develop a high quality mix design for any project.
