Although it is just plain fun to rank a director's movies, it may also help me think about the director's oeuvre of work as a whole. Comparisons can help me to discover elements of film that I am drawn to, what the director finds value in revealing through their movies and possibly how the director has grown artistically.

All of Dominik's narrative films deal with being a celebrity in some way. There is an allure to being a celebrity, of being known and loved by the masses that attracts unstable people who may be willing to do some inhumane acts to achieve success. Controlling the narrative of a celebrity becomes incredibly important, as the infamous acts need to be scrubbed away or countered, with charm and likability.
Dominik explores how being a celebrity and doing what it takes to maintain a certain image and status in society inevitably takes a toll on his characters. Often physical or sexual violence is employed as a means to attain wealth and/or status, both directly and indirectly, which has profound emotional impacts on his characters and they become shells of their former selves.
Overall, Dominik is attempting to reveal the other, dark side to wealth and celebrity that can be hidden to the masses who believe happiness can be attained through fame or wealth without realizing the true cost and devastating effects achieving these dreams have on people.
