Am including Arabic dialects b/c I've begun studying Arabic. The main categories are: Egyptian (widely understood), Levantine (Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Palestine), Maghrebi (North Africa), Gulf (Peninsular), and Iraqi. I can pick out the most words in Levantine, then Egyptian and Gulf, and Iraqi and Maghrebi are the hardest.
For West Germanic languages, I've watched films in Afrikaans, Dutch, English, German, Plautdietsch, and Yiddish, and have still got Flemish, Frisian, and Scots Gaelic to go. I can understand the most in English, then German, perhaps a little more in Yiddish than Dutch, followed by Afrikaans and then Plautdietsch.
May be looking at my earlier Leftovers of Languages Rarely Found in Film boxd.it/tp6uy -- still got some possibilities on there.
