The Godfather Part II stands as what might be the greatest film ever made. It presents much deeper themes; it has a much more complex narrative and seamlessly weaves 2 beautiful stories together in a way that it never becomes jarring but instead amplifies the story.

Just as good as the remake, the original 3:10 to Yuma is such a great film with stunning cinematography with clever lighting and some terrific shots throughout. The main theme and score are so good, the production design is excellent. Both Glenn Ford and Van Heflin are on fire here, both perfect in their respective roles. Even if I hadn’t seen the remake first, I’d still prefer that one as I think it better handles the relationship between the two…

Visually packed with symbolism and depth, Paris, Texas uses its slow pace to its best effect. The film has great characters, powerful themes, a phenomenal lead performance by Harry Dean Stanton and the cinematography/colours are just magnificent elevating every single moment in the film. However, narratively I do feel the brother and wife being absent for the second and third acts of the film feel quite odd and do find the final 10 minutes a little conflicting on how I feel. Still though, the film is definitely earning of its massive praise and maybe on a rewatch it’ll click more into place for me.

Despite it being Reizl Bozyk only film credit, she’s the absolute BEST part of the film, she rivals Hollywood from Mannequin as potentially the most amusing character in a film I’ve seen this year! The rest is also very sweet, definitely give it a watch.
