🌲 Christmas Horror (2015)
I can't say I was especially thrilled with this one. It wasn't better than it seemed, and it seemed mediocre.
There's Something in the Barn is exponentially more violent and satisfying. Same with A Creature was Lurking, It's a Wonderful Knife, Christmas Bloody Christmas, The Sacrifice Game—every Christmas horror movie that I've seen that came out this year is more engaging and more frightening. This is an entirely bloodless affair.
That said, this wasn't really horror meant to scare adults—it was sorta child-friendly Christmas horror, so I'm not the intended audience. I think this movie would be very fun for people who have a family. It is perfectly amusing; there was a cute evil Krampus coterie that provided plenty of entertainment. There was a decent amount of humor that worked. The vibes are very Christmas-with-Distasteful-Relatives, and it's a bit more scary than A Nightmare Before Christmas.
Krampus is well made, reasonably fun and funny, and probably for the right person this is the Christmas horror film to watch. Recommended for children and those who must tame—sorry, I mean raise—them.
