"Merry Christmas, you little fuckers."
What an entertaining and unique film this is! If it weren't at times very bloody, I could easily see this being a family-oriented holiday staple.
There's really something here for everyone to enjoy. The landscape of Norway is stunning and I love horror films that are not just holidays but are set in the snow. It feels nicely wintery and is great on film. This is decently violent as well, although all of the violence is played for laughs. A horror audience will probably be left wanting more, but this is often a slapstick splatter film, and it's perfectly amusing even if you're finding it more comedy than horror, which was my experience.
Acting's good, jokes are good enough. It's solid fun. Give it a try. Perhaps it will be a new holiday classic for you. And if not, at least you will get to see a barn thing massacre. Oh, right, but a very charming and funny one. It does end up feeling like an ultra-violent Home Alone, but most of these films do at one point or another.
Hopefully you'll enjoy this too. Recommended.
