If you have ever wondered who Lux Æterna is made for, it's made for me.
That was absolutely hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing through the majority of the end of the film; I tried to be serious but these lights are making everyone insane and the DP refuses to fix them or stop shooting, and these actresses tied to stakes wearing sunglasses? In the middle of this strobe storm of color?
This feels like Gaspar Noé's Irma Vep. The director of photography has gone completely insane is now just doing his own crazy thing because the actual shoot isn't working. And people are dropping like flies or fleeing and Charlotte Gainsbourg slays. I love her performance. There was a message everyone finds here, and I'm good with it, but I just love the chaos and it is clear Noé does too—but here, with a light touch and no violence.
I am going to save so much money on LSD and DMT. I am still hallucinating in my peripheral vision. It's been half an hour. I have not taken any drugs.
I fucking love this film.
