FACTS & STATS
- Parasite did not win until Round 4, but it absolutely dominated. By the final round, it had 78.6% of the vote.
- Joker did not even get 5% of the Round 1 votes, despite needing that amount to be nominated originally.
- Portrait of a Lady on Fire over-performed in Round 1, but barely gained new voters. Just like the nominations, it has less support than other films but the support is passionate.
- The Lighthouse was in second postion until the penultimate round where Marriage Story overtook it.
- Marriage Story was in fourth place initially, but made it to the final two. Very few people placed it low on their ballot, even if not many placed it #1.
- Marriage Story was the only film to more than double its Round 1 vote tally by the end. Parasite had a 71% vote bump by the end. They were the real crowdpleasers it seems. By contrast, the films with the least amount of increase were Little Women (9%), The Irishman (11%), and Portrait of a Lady on Fire (17%).
