How to implement Bluestar PLM

Implementing a new PLM solution is a major step for any organization. That’s why Bluestar PLM works closely with you through a structured and proven approach – reducing risk, accelerating adoption, and ensuring a successful outcome together.

Implementation chart showing the phases and steps to implement Bluestar PLM

An implementation usually takes 4–9 months. The exact timeline depends on your setup – such as the number of CAD systems, whether data migration is needed, which modules are included, and the internal resources you can allocate to the project. Most projects combine on-site collaboration with remote support to maintain momentum and alignment throughout.

Implementation Phases

A structured path to success

A senior project manager works side by side with you to shape the implementation around your technical setup, operational goals, and project capacity.
Our approach is structured into two core phases: Before Go Live and After Go Live.

Steps before Go Live

Handover and scoping

We begin with a clear project handover, then work together to define goals, requirements, and timelines.

User training

Key users are trained early to provide feedback, support their teams, and champion adoption.

Data migration and stabilization

We guide you through test and live data migration to ensure accurate data and system stability.

Validation and testing

A test environment is established to mirror your D365 solution – thorough functional and user acceptance testing is done.

Process alignment

We document and adapt workflows to ensure PLM fully supports and aligns with your business processes.

Final training and Go Live

After testing approval, we deploy the system and train users. Go Live happens only after full sign-off.

Steps after Go Live

Ongoing support

Our team remains closely involved to stabilize the system and ensure smooth daily operations.

Continuous optimization

Together, we refine processes, enhance workflows, and expand capabilities as your needs grow.

Frequently Asked Questions

All you need to know about our implementation

Typically, customers go live within 4–9 months, depending on scope and project complexity.

The implementation is effortbased. Customers can influence both timeline and effort by preparing upfront – for example by clarifying requirements and preparing data in advance.

The customer is responsible for preparing the data migration. Bluestar supports this process and provides guidance and training throughout.
In addition, the customer needs to appoint a project lead and key users from each department to ensure that tasks in the joint roadmap are completed on time.

We can start immediately, including setting up the environment and training key users.

We run scoping workshops at the beginning of the process to understand your current setup and define the implementation roadmap including migration. Typically, two to three days of scoping is sufficient to estimate the overall effort.
