Revolutionising the treatment of genetic diseases by intercellular transmission of DNA

Bitrobius Genetics is developing Gentrafix™: the only technology capable of delivering DNA to every cell where it is needed. A Gentrafix™ plasmid will replicate following delivery, then spread to adjacent cells, carrying the correct copy of a gene that is mutated in those cells and thereby curing the genetic disease. We are expanding its application into mitochondrial gene therapy.

There are no permanent cures for most genetic diseases...

…and the few gene therapies on the market represent the most expensive medicines in history.

Current gene therapy vectors, which are mostly modified viruses, are unable to carry the large genes needed to treat most diseases and can only reach a few percent of the afflicted cells.

There are no gene therapies to treat diseases caused by mutations of mitochondrial genes.

It enables cost-effective manufacture with the potential to deliver even the largest human gene to all the cells where it is needed.

The Gentrafix™ technology is based on DNA molecules called plasmids which are uniquely able to replicate within human cells and then travel to adjacent cells via a translocation mechanism, thus spreading throughout the affected cells.
