Students who are confident with maths or are studying maths at A level may not need to be explicitly taught most of the maths requirements of the Biology A level but it is important to ensure that all of the requirements are covered somewhere and that there has been an opportunity to practise these. Standard deviation and statistical tests will need to be taught as these are not covered in GCSE maths.
The following booklet is designed to provide worked examples for each of the mathematical requirements along with sample questions and answers. Although I studied maths at A level, I am not a mathematician so please excuse any calculation errors. I have asked colleagues to check through the worked examples though. Please let me know if you spot any errors.
