Wildlife Viewing
At Big Bar Guest Ranch, nature is all around you. Here, you’ll experience the peaceful quiet of a remote setting — no highway noise, no city lights, just star-filled skies, the distant yips of coyotes, and even the shimmering glow of the northern lights.
The valley is home to deer, moose, coyotes, hawks, and eagles, all thriving in the tall grasses and forests. Black bears are occasionally seen near the ranch — always keep a safe distance — and while lynx, cougars, and wolves live in the area, they are shy and rarely seen, though you might hear a wolf’s haunting call at night.
In spring, the meadows burst with wildflowers like lupine, columbine, lilies, and wild roses, turning the landscape into a sea of color. Bird lovers will also be in heaven here: spot bald eagles soaring overhead, hummingbirds buzzing near the deck, graceful sandhill cranes, and even our own “cowboy” raven calling “Yee Haa” near the barn.
Whether you’re here for adventure or quiet retreat, the wildlife and natural beauty of Big Bar will leave you inspired.
