Our Strategic Plan

Moving Forward with Vision

The Bay Area comprises a diverse and dynamic region filled with opportunities, but not without important – and distinct – community needs. A recent environmental scan and community survey identified some of the most compelling opportunities and needs.

Although we are looking into the future, we are also building upon focus areas that were identified and guided the organization in past years. We will continue to: 1) promote charitable giving by providing consistent engagement with donors; 2) serve in a leadership capacity as a coalition builder, convener knowledge resource to provide information or lead efforts that enhance the quality of life in our community and address priority identified community needs; 3) award grants consistent with BACF initiatives and donor wishes and support our local nonprofit partners to create change; 4) provide sound Foundation operations and timely reporting to ensure ethical and transparent communication of Foundation processes.

Moving forward to the next one to five years, board members and staff have identified specific areas of focus.

Early Childhood Development

Aspiration: All children show up for kindergarten ready to learn at a developmentally appropriate level.

With a focus on (0-5) childcare and preschool, we will work with community partners to assess our current capacity, determine our future needs, and provide support to put resources into place.

Post High School Training/Education with Emphasis on First Generation

Aspiration: The growing economy is supported by educational and training opportunities for students and community residents.

We will provide support and continue efforts to increase postsecondary education and training attainment in Bay and Arenac counties through scholarships and postsecondary access efforts, and in Bay County through Bay Commitment.

Sense of Place

Aspiration: Our unique cultural, recreational, and natural resources are a cornerstone of what makes our community a great place.

We will provide support and continue efforts to develop safe, welcoming communities in Bay County with amenities that meet the needs and improve the quality of life for both residents and visitors.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion

Aspiration: Every person has the opportunity to thrive in our community – for all, for good.

Working with community partners, we will provide support and continue efforts to focus activity on where we can make meaningful progress to reach a state where all people are equally valued, welcomed and everyone can say, “I belong here.”
