I took Friday off for no other reason than I really don’t feel like going to work very much anymore…………….

I spent about three hours outside working and I mowed and got the rain barrels set up.  If I had had gas, I probably would have rototilled the back 40 as well, but NO GAS !!

The grocery store had a piece of pork belly for sale and I haven’t been interested in making bacon lately but I bought it and wanted to try making “Pork Belly Burnt Ends”.

I didn’t really follow a recipe, just kind of winged it after reading a few recipes:

Turned out really good.  I am definitely going to do that again.

Saturday we made another run up to mom’s in Wisconsin.  No dumpster, just mowed, took a load to the dump, organized and brought a trailer of stuff back.

These tubs are filled with pots and pans that were in cabinets in the garage………….

I can’t believe all of the stuff that she bought.

I did score some genealogical treasures, both good and bad.

The good, I found my grandfather’s original Merchant Marine paperwork from WWII.

The bad, I found about 200 unnamed/undated photographs from 1900-1940.

Well, being that it was Saturday, it was “Saturday night pizza night”

Yep, had pizza, but forgot to take a picture.

On the way home from my brother’s house on Saturday, I found some more curb treasure:

About 20 blocks.  They were glued together, but some properly applied force separated the.

Made a SSA account and can see the actual numbers of what I would be able to get.

Doing the maffing, the difference between taking it at 63 and later is that the break even point is still 77 years old………………………………

Why am I waiting??

Health care is the only thing stopping me.

I would still need to work  part time, which is fine for me.

Second 5K of the year.

Cold, 40 degrees, overcast, windy, damp………..

I ended up with a 10:45 pace and was very disappointed.  I felt that I really put better training in on this run.

Mile 3 lost me.

3 weeks until the next run.

Well, being that it was Saturday, it was “Saturday night pizza night”

Nope, no pizza……………

Now, the 5K took about 3/4 of a mile through a residential area and I saw a treasure on the curb while on the run:

A free rain barrel and 1/2 a sheet of 3/4 AC plywood……………

SCORE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully the rain barrel isn’t leaky.

Stopped at the local grocery store on the way home to get some Broccoli for dinner and I found Pork Loin on sale for $1.98 lb.

SCORE !!!!!!!!!

That should be lunch for the week.

No work done outside.  Friday was 80 degrees and then that big storm came through and it was 30 degrees.  I did not go to Wisconsin because there was no way I could do that work again and run on Sunday.  Cold and damp all day Saturday.  I had a cup of coffee and watched “Predator” on Tubi.

Sunday, I thought I could come home after the run and do some work outside, but it was still cloudy and cold and by 1pm, I was falling asleep on the couch.

I took Friday off, not for any reason, just wanted a day off.  It was cool and damp as it had rained a bit the night before but I did get out for about 90 minutes and actually got quite a bit of stuff done.  “Free” yard waste starts and I got two bags picked up and probably have two more to do for next week to be cleaned up.

The mower started on the fourth pull………………. It’s never taken that many but the mower is fine.

Back to “If it’s Saturday, it’s pizza day”:

Store bought pizza for $5.00 and it was really good.  This was my cheat meal for the week.  I bloated up and have been about 15 pounds over weight and I need to be at least 10 lower for my 5K next weekend.  I lost 8 pounds last week cutting 99% of my carbs.  I ate a metric butt ton of eggs which was fine for me but this week will be chicken thighs.

Made a trip to Wisconsin to work on cleaning out my mother’s place.

Took a bot 4 hours to fill up a 30 yarder, will need at least 2 more……………..

I spent the first hour walking up and down the basement stairs bringing up boxes and totes.  My brother had a young apprentice from work with him and it was good to have a kid do a lot of the physical stuff.  Yeah, I’ve fully accepted that I am old and not quite a s studly as I once was.

Made a pretty good dent in this “wall of stuff”  This was packed solid all the way behind me.  90% of this was brought up from the old home and never opened…………..  She took EVERYTHING from the old house that should have been thrown away or sold or given away before she moved.

Threw away all of my childhood toys.  We had a ton of Fisher Price toys, including horse and cow that I saved.  I know there were many, many hours of these guys playing.

My brother was going to toss this and I had to save it.  These are blocks that my father made when were kids.  I’ve very selective on being attached to objects but I think this is something will always want to have and remember.

I only brought a few things back.

My brother is going back next weekend and bringing his son and two kids from work and getting a 40 yarder so the will do a huge job of cleaning up.

No work done outside for the weekend, we had three days of heavy rains during the week and every was soaked for the weekend.

Sunday, my brother had mom at his place for the weekend and we had dinner there.  I made the mashed potatoes.

I have a 5K in 2 weeks and I need to lose at least 10 pounds so I need to cut out carbs…………….  I’ll start tomorrow…………….

Next Saturday we will be making a trip to Wisconisn to clean out mom’s house.
