About the Hackathon (completed!)
Launch event starts on Friday, July 28th @ 11am EDT! The Launch event will include the inventor of the Arweave protocol, Sam Williams, and the sponsoring partners as well. The event takes place in our custom designed online space, which you'll get access to after signing up.
You'll want to be there to get the details and also have the opportunity to connect with the mentors who will be there to support you throughout.
We'll also have two workshops on the Launch day and a bunch of mentors (and potentially investors too!).
During our workshops and office hours, mentors will provide guidance to help you push the boundaries of what’s possible. The online hackathon culminates in a demo day and Arweave community session, where you'll meet even more community members :).
Requirements
What's Needed to Submit
- 2-5 minute video demo.
- public GitHub repo
- Must include a README file that provides an overview of the project, its features, and any additional information that judges need to evaluate the submission.
- Link to the deployed application/site on permaweb (if applicable).
- 1-4 participants on a team.
In general, focus on one or more of the bounties listed below to be eligible (*there is up to $100K in investment opportunity for the right project, however, that is not listed here as there isn't an associated bounty).
Prizes
Forward Research Universal Data License: $10k in bounties.
Use the license to represent work in creative ways.
Here are some ideas below:
- Build a permaweb app that lets musicians issue Universal Data Licensed tracks, and lets users listen to them, as well as buy into them and trade their revenue streams.
- Build an open forum on Arweave as a permaweb app, where users can buy into each other's content to show their support for interesting posts. The 'sponsors' (tokenholders) of a post could be shown as a pie chart next to the post to highlight this component of the experience.
- Build an open youtube-style platform on Arweave that lets users browse for videos, tip creators, and buy into the revenue streams for content -- all of which can be licensed with the UDL.
Best Kwil Extension: $2,750 USD in bounties.
Submissions for this bounty must be functioning Kwil extensions. The submission must either include a Dockerfile or a link to a public image on Dockerhub.
Best use of Kwil: $1,750 USD in bounties.
There is no explicit mandate for this bounty other than that the submission must use Kwil; teams are encouraged to leverage Kwil in unique ways, whether it be by building an application, tooling, or otherwise.
Community Labs - Download of the entire Arweave Chain: $3,000 USD
Write a script that enables pull of the entire dataset from an Arweave gateway. The beauty of Arweave is that no node is required to store the entire weave. However, ease of access to the weave is beneficial. In fact, node operators are incentivized to store as much of the chain as possible. A script to aggregate this data into one place would enable offline indexing of the data.
Community Labs - Permaweb Mail: $3,000 USD
Build a protocol that will send an email to a web2 email account when an on-chain transaction occurs involving a user’s wallet address. Create a landing page for users to “subscribe” to a notification system that also provides information on what the protocol is and how it works.
Community Labs - Smartweave Contract Stepper: $3,000 USD
Build a tool that uses a Warp contract ID to find all given state changes of that contract. Build a web page for this tool that anyone can access. UI should allow input of smart contract IDs and show a “storybook” of how each interaction modifies the contract state.
Community Labs - Othent integration: $1,000 USD in bounties
Build a Permaweb app that leverages Othent for authentication and transaction uploading. The integration can be done via ArweaveKit, OthentJS, or through direct interaction with Othent account contracts.
Community Labs - ArweaveKit: $2,000 USD in bounties
Must use ArweaveKit as the primary tool in developing your application on Arweave. Use the kit as much as you can and showcase how you’ve used it. Those that create functional apps which fully integrate ArweaveKit will be considered for the bounty. Bonus points for educational content created to go alongside it all!
Community Labs - ArConnect: $1,000 USD in bounties
Must directly use ArConnect to be considered for this bounty. Fully functional integration of Arconnect tied to an app that works. We’ll be looking for creative implementations that make the wallet experience better overall.
Developer DAO - Best D_D Project: $2,000 USD in bounties
Must be a DevDAO active member with D4R NFT or 400 $CODE tokens.
Overall Community Prize: $3,000 to one winner.
Must use Arweave to be eligible. Supported by Art By City and the community at large. Voted on by the community that attends the DEMO DAY event in our custom online space (details shared after signing up!).
