I completed my PhD in Higher Education: Research, Evaluation and Enhancement at Lancaster University in June 2023. The title of my thesis is: Refugees’ Online Learning Engagement in Higher Education: A Capabilitarian Analysis. I shared some of my key findings in a paper in the open-access Online Learning journal in June 2023.
Throughout my thesis development, I published updates in my open thesis site, and regularly wrote thesis-related blog posts, tagged ‘My PhD’. My series of blog posts on the capability approach and higher education is available in a single resource: Exploring the Capability Approach as a social justice framework for researching higher education in 12 blog posts (Witthaus, 2022). I also wrote a series of posts tagged “online engagement“, which delve into the literature on student engagement in online higher education and offer some personal reflections on the topic.
