Excellent Replacement for Launchpad!

This app provides an interface very similar to Apple’s late, lamented LaunchPad app. I was really pleased to find that it is able to import my Launchpad app groupings, so I can pick up where I left off. It took bit of time for me to discover the nonstandard location for the app’s Preferences menu, which allowed me to show AppGrid on the dock. Well done!

I think prior issues must have been fixed because so far it’s been a smooth ride. Simple to use and importing my prior setup was quick and easy. A must have for people like me who hoard apps such as games and like to have them organized in folders which is not an option with vanilla macOS! Fantastic piece of software

The removal of the LaunchPad in Tahoe was a real shock. I have used the author's LaunchPad Manager for years and delighted with it; this new app takes it much further and allows not just LaunchPad functionality back but much more ability to configure how the app launcher works. Works at least as well as the one Apple discontinued

I used to use Apple's LaunchPad for an organized graphical view of my 205 apps, but they took it away in MacOS Tahoe. This app works at least as well, and even gives you a way to import your old LaunchPad database so you don't have to rebuild it. Running on the free version and it does everything I need.

The look and feel of the old tried and true Launchpad

This app has the look and feel of the old tried and true launchpad that I've come to know over the last decade. One thing that would be nice is some sorting ability and the addition of gestures. I'm currently using AppGrid with hot corners to open it — works great and is way better than what Apple gave us.

How it works

  2. Import your Launchpad layout (or scan for apps)
  3. Tidy with multi-select and groups (Pro)
  4. Open AppGrid with your keyboard shortcut
  5. Add new apps via Add available apps

FAQ

How can I use the pinch gesture / hot corners for showing AppGrid?

Both the pinch gesture (3- or 4-finger pinch) and hot corner activation are available in the direct download version of AppGrid. These features require access to system-level input handling which is not possible in the sandboxed App Store version.

Yes. Use Import from Launchpad to bring your existing Launchpad layout into AppGrid so you keep your familiar grouping and positions.

Newly installed apps are added automatically when the corresponding setting is turned on in Settings

Open Add available apps and select the ones you want to include in your grid.

You’re likely in Edit mode. Toggle Edit mode off (shortcut ⌘E) to launch apps with a click.

Use keyboard shortcuts: ⌘← / ⌘→ to move pages, ⌘1–9 to jump directly.

Background can be changed in Settings to either Liquid Glass, Custom Image or Solid Color.

AppGrid opens on the screen where the mouse pointer is.
