Pub Day was founded by Emmy Award-winning journalist and bestselling author Allison Gilbert, in collaboration with veteran publishing consultant and literary agent Laura Mazer. Together, they bring decades of publishing experience to helping writers transform personal experience into meaningful, market-ready books.
Whether you’re wrestling with an early draft or preparing to publicize your book with a national marketing and publicity campaign, Pub Day offers insider guidance from people who understand the literary landscape of memoir, self-help, and narrative nonfiction.

We offer exceptional writing retreats with bestselling author Tembi Locke (From Scratch, now a limited series on Netflix, and the forthcoming book Someday, Now) at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health. An Emmy Award-winning journalist for more than three decades, Allison possesses the unique ability to break down complex content into captivating story ideas that editors, reporters, and producers want. Whether you’re planning a hyper-local media campaign based on your book’s themes and content, lining up in-person and virtual events, or delving into specialized writing areas like grief and biography, Allison is your go-to expert.
Allison is the author of six books, and the co-author of Dr. Ruth Westheimer’s final book, The Joy of Connections: 100 Ways to Beat Loneliness and Live a Happier and More Meaningful Life. Allison writes regularly for The New York Times, has been interviewed on the Today Show, Good Morning America, and NPR, and has presented talks to audiences at Amazon, Google, Hearst, Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, and many other wellness retreat centers, companies, and organizations.

Laura Mazer is your key to understanding the ever-evolving publishing marketplace. She knows what editors and agents are seeking right now and can help polish your concept before submission.
Laura is a sought-after literary agent with Wendy Sherman Associates. Laura specializes in adult nonfiction with a focus on healthy and wellness, women’s issues, intelligent pop culture, counterintuitive self-help, packaged gift or “concept” books, and books that take us on geeky deep dives into fascinating facets of everyday life. She adores history, biography, and celebrations of literary legacies, especially when they offer fresh stories about women. She also represents select commercial and upmarket fiction.
Wondering if you’re ready to seek an agent? Laura can provide the guidance you need to take that critical next step.
