On January 10, 2023, the DoD issued an updated Instruction for DISTRIBUTION STATEMENTS ON DOD TECHNICAL INFORMATION.
You may read the Instruction or a summary located at the tab reading January 10, 2023 Update on this very page or by clicking here.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: The form and content of the markings for Distro A, B, C, D, E, or F have not been changed.
If your thesis/dissertation is CLASSIFIED, you still must add the appropriate Distribution Statement.
See: Enclosure 3, Procedure 6, page 11 of DoDI 5230.24
As of April 28, 2016 there are new policies in place for the use of Distribution F. DoD Instruction 5230.24, "Distribution Statements on Technical Documents" now prohibits the use of Distribution F on classified or unclassified scientific and technical documents. However, distribution statement F may be used under rare and exceptional circumstances when specific authority exists, or when need-to-know has been verified.
