@Lash,
B B has a seriously good drummer!
@panzade,
Hi ya Panz
If Johnny Cash only ever recorded Hurt it would still be a legend, but he's done so much more. When I was a kid I thought he was just a novelty act (Boy named Sue), but you live and learn. It's weird to think of him at Sun Records at the same time as Elvis Presley. The track you've picked makes me think of the incredible influence of gospel on American music.
@hingehead,
Actually, hinge. The influence in this case comes from a "chain gang" song,
Here a chain gang works on "linin"(aligning) the railroad track
Here's what they sounded like as they swung their sledge hammers
@Lash,
Yaknow about the [youtube ] tag right? Put them vids right in the thread!
Cycloptichorn
@panzade,
Maybe gospel and linin' both have their roots in 'call and response' vocals that came to America with the slave trade? <desperately trying to save face>
@hingehead,
I think you're right on the money...
Will you humour me for one more strange one hinge?
This is a weird one from Dean Elliot who used to write music for Tom & Jerry cartoons(best heard on earphones)
@panzade,
I'd love to see the sheet music for that. He would have killed for a Fairlight CMI...
@panzade,
Glad you liked it! I love that vocalist!
Thanks cyclo. I'm a bit behind on the posting methodology lately...
@hingehead,
The last one was California on my Mind by Wild Light, darlin.
@hingehead,
whoever it is she does great business as a M Monroe clone at cocktail parties.
@hingehead,
I could have sworn it was a guy in drag with some tricky photography - transposing his head parts on lady parts... I don't know.
@Lash,
Now that you've planted the suggestion I can see it too - but s/he definitely studied Monroe for the slow motion blink.
Strange:
My mid to late teens were filled with the birth of new wave - but I never caught this one the first time around.
@hingehead,
One of the best I've seen!
I've just come across (to my undying shame) Children of the Bong (stupid name - sounds like a Cypress Hill tribute band). They are, or were, mid 90s ambient techno ambient dub, found a really nice track on an 1994 compilation of Planet Dog artists released on Mammoth. Sadly the track I like, Symbol I, has been youtubified, so I'm going with this trippy little Jah Wobble meets Tangerine Dream number:
A lovely start to a morning of fighting with javascript and CSS
Never heard of her - even better!
@hingehead,
Those guitars are so much easier to play without strings!
@panzade,
I did think it was cute to use a capo on a stringless guitar!
Still plugging away at code - this is a nice track to do brainwork to...

Just heard this morning on TED. A rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody on Ukulele.
