The home for fans of
THE HITCHHIKER’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY
Named after the sector of space where we live
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
has the following to say about the fan club:
ZZ9, it says, is cool, really cool. You just won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mind-boggingly cool it is. I mean, you may think you look cool in your peril-sensitive sunglasses, but that’s just peanuts to ZZ9. Listen!
And so on.
After a while, the style settles down a bit and it starts telling you things you actually need to know, like:
- ZZ9 organises gatherings so members can experience fun, adventure and really wild things! Although, to be frank, there is rather a lot of general socialising and attending events.
- ZZ9 produces a quarterly magazine called Mostly Harmless.
- ZZ9 sells really cool stuff, such as the famous Beeblebears – modelled after the hoopy President of the Galaxy, Zaphod Beeblebrox – which have all the cuddliness of traditional teddy bears, but with two heads and three arms.
- ZZ9 loves The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy in all its forms*, but also celebrates the works of Douglas Adams in general, including Dirk Gently et al.
* There is, however, some debate about the movie.
“I’ve seen it. It’s rubbish.”
