Captain's Log
On the Edge of Humanity
I am now part of 7th Heaven Private Industries.

25 million ISK is a long, long haul to get to.

I really do want to get into a battlecruiser. As a side note, if I upgrade my cruiser skillset, I could fly battleships. I don't want to skip over battlecruisers, mind you. It's just a thought, and it requires long range planning.

So I'm out at a belt right now, mining away, listening to EVE Radio Corp. DJ-Madness is a rocking mixer, and he's played all of my requests so far. Excellent, I should listen more often.

Anyways, its been a slow week so far, hehe, nothing much to report except mining, mining and more mining, with some ratting on the side. I've decked out my cruiser to be able to mine and deal with the occasional rat that shows up while the mining lasers are sucking rock. I use my destroyer for the extra tough ones.

The Omen class cruiser is a very decent ship. She flies very well, has a decent amount of cargo room, and can hold four lasers AND a missile launcher.

I've outfitted my destroyer as my fighting ship, she's armed with eight lasers, and a few odds and ends. I really wish she had more medium energy slots, there's really not a lot of room to fit things into. My cruiser is currently outfitted for mining.

And already the cruiser has paid for herself, in ore mined and time saved. I'm thinking about moving out to a lower security system, I hear there are better things to be had, and more interesting things to mine.

Oh, and I've just recently learned the basics of flying battlecruisers. Though, those babies are in the twenty-five million range. That's going to be a lot of work.

I've finally trained up the ability to fly a cruiser. All that I need to do now is spend a bit more time honing my skill, and I'll be able to master the Omen I've purchased.

Star helped out by giving me one and a half million, and with the money I'd saved, I bought her. She was in the station, so I was able to take ownership immediately. I have been pondering what to arm her with, and am curious of prospecting in her. Oh the mining lasers she can hold...

Due to the actions of the ore theif, I've done the following:

  • Bought a new destroyer and new weapons. I am considering a second destroyer, and to outfit one as a weapons platform, the other as a mining skiff.
  • Trained up the skill of anchoring, though only to find out you cannot anchor secure containers in 1.0 space. Ah well, will be more useful when I move to more dangerous space.
  • Purchased two giant, secure containers and coded them with passwords. </ul

So, I was visited by an ore theif last night, not sure if he took it all into his cargo bay, or if he just dumped it into space. He was flying an interceptor based on the Merlin design, so probably the latter.

I saw him coming towards me and I knew, and I started pondering my options... I decided to return and try and destroy his ship. Well... it went poorly. Had I remembered to grab ALL of the pulse lasers and, for crying out loud, put the DAMN crystals in, it might have gone better for me and worse for him.

Lesson learned though, I'll keep an eye out for him, get higher insurance on my ship, and perhaps he and I will have another tango across the deep, wide open in the future.

Small favours in that ... he didn't pod me.

I'll never understand people and their desire sometimes to have "loser" names or be called Lord this or that.

And why on earth would you want to hang about in space for hours mining from an indy?

Bring a faster miner, dump the stuff in a temporary container, toss that out the hatch, come back with a hauler after filling it. Less time spent flying about from point a to point b, and you mine faster as well. Who's training these guys anyways?

Mako and Star and I are considering forming our own corporation.

Though, I think they already have one going... either way, it would be nice to organize. Have an office maybe... my own nameplate on the door. Hahaha!

Whew...

What a week it's been

First, I finally graduated from the academy. Maybe not the best scores ever, but certainly enough to earn me the frigate Father promised me.

It's not the best frigate around, but the Impairor was at least new.

First thing I did was check up on my friends, and see if they might loan me a bit of ISK for the skills I'll need to make my living out in the big, wide open. Scyphus was the nicest by far, he gave me 5M ISK. Poska was able to loan me 1.2M ISK, and Felisha loaned me 0.3M ISK. Not too shabby a start, I guess.

Scyphus also gave me his cast offs, older pieces of equipment he didn't use any more. I picked up some miners, shield boosters, and a number of lasers. With the money I had, I purchased the complete beginner's list of required skills, a few more bits and pieces, and three ships: a Punisher and a Tormentor, both frigates, and a Bestower. I decked out the Bestower with multiple basic cargo expanders, and she can hold almost 9Km3! Though, I couldn't fly her right away, had to wait a few days until the perequisite skills were complete.

So far, I've made about four or five million ISK on my own. I've paid back Poska, and extracted a promise for assistance in gaining my first cruiser. Felisha, well, I'll pay her next time I see her. She keeps disappearing...

Just this past day or two, I've been flying a new ship, a shiney new Coercer. That destroyer is pretty combat capable, and she can mount four Xetcs, if I can figure out how to squeeze them in. For now I use three. I also outfitted her for combat, and she performs well. I'll need to pick up a shield booster, or maybe an armor repairer though, or maybe afterburners. I don't know. The rats in 0.6 security space are pretty damn mean, one almost had me, knocked out the destroyer's shields, and ate into the armor somewhat. The rat's shields were tough... but once they fell, my ship's eight dual pulse lasers sliced through the rat's armor like a hot knife through butter. Whatever butter is...

Anyways, just catching up the ship's log.
