I never know what to write in these things! That's the main reason I hardly ever post here.

Anyway, junior year of high school...boo. Not very fun for me right now. Just very overwhelming and so much work. I quit my job b/c they wouldn't cooperate with what I was requesting. I asked for less hours, so I could possibly work and be lessed stressed about school, but they gave me more. I might have something lined up that I'm very excited about, thanks to a very generous person. I've only told one person out of sheer excitement, but I don't want to get my hopes up, so until it becomes official, I'm not going to say what.

When I do have time when I'm free, I either listen to music (lately it's been constant music from Jill Sobule. I have phases where I'm really obsessed with an album, and right now it's been her "Happy Town" album) or read (right now I'm reading Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs). I've been watching "The Megan Mullally Show" every day as well (for the obvious reasons).

That's really all. Not much else going on in my life.

xoxo

I have neglected this thing for long enough.

Summer's going well. I have a job at a grocery store as a cashier. Other than that, I've been relaxing, and reading a lot. 3/4 of my paycheck basically goes to Borders now. I've gotten into the work of Truman Capote (although I've only read Breakfast At Tiffany's and a couple of short stories). I had to read Harper Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird for school and loved it. I'm currently reading Mary Gaitskill's Veronica.

The rest of my paycheck usually goes to getting CDs. I can't get enough of Gnarls Barkley's song "Crazy," and I don't know why, lol. I've also bought Corrine Bailey Rae's CD. Hopefully, I'll be able to get David Ford's album (one of his songs was on the CD sampler of Paste magazine, and I loved it). And I'm impatiently waiting for the release of the new Indigo Girls CD "Despite Our Differences."

No vacation over the summer, but I will be going to Orlando for a week in late September, which I heard is nice because there aren't that many people vacationing during that time of year. A little nervous about the plane ride, but I'll suck it up.

Not counting the weekends, I only have six days of school left. We got yearbooks this week, so everyone's getting everyone to sign their's. This year was a lot better than freshman year, but I'm still glad to be out for the summer. I'm definitely not a morning person, so a couple months of sleeping in sounds pretty good to me.

A while ago, they found out who wrote the bomb threat on the bathroom wall. Turns out it was Sarah's sister's ex-boyfriend. He was a jerk to begin with, but I didn't think he'd do that.

The 18th was the Will & Grace series finale. Yes, there were tears, and lots of them, coming from me. And this Thursday, they aired it once again. There were tears that time too, but not as much, since I already knew what happened. But I think that it's going to be one of those things that will always make me tear up (I can't get through the "Friends" series finale without crying just a little).

Tomorrow, Ryan and I are going over to Sarah's to watch some movies. It was really fun the last time we did it, although we were going to watch a few and ended up only watching "The Breakfast Club" then having a Fooseball (sp?) tournament. Sarah wants me to bring my "Saturday Night Live: Best Of..." collection, so I'll bring that along with a couple of other movies I know they like.

...We have a special announcement. All students are dismissed. The building is being evacuated, we have just recieved a bomb threat. There is no need to worry."

I heard this five minutes before school ended yesterday. I was in American Cultures and Reece and I were working on a worksheet for Watergate. Some guy wrote that there was a bomb that was going to go off today on a bathroom wall. But seriously, if there's a possibility that a bomb is going to go off in a building that I'm in, don't tell me that I shouldn't worry!! lol. There was no bomb, though, and now they're trying to find the one who wrote that on the wall.

Anyway, yesterday was my 16th birthday. My big gifts were a new cell phone (it's a camera phone), and tickets to see Eric McCormack's play "Some Girls" in New York in June (if I wasn't sitting on a chair, my legs would have gave, lol). My german class and science class sang to me yesterday, and the chorus sang to me today (thanks to Sarah).

Now for a meme from Matty:

No one ever comments me anymore, lol. I won't be updating as often, since I guess no one reads this anymore. This is copied from my xanga:

So, Reece and I are planning to go to Scary Movie 4 this coming weekend. Hopefully it will work out, lol.

I so don't wanna go back to school tomorrow, lol. It's been so relaxing having this break. My Easter was okay. I got candy (of course), and I also got Melissa Etheridge's CD "Lucky" and Fastball's "All The Pain Money Can Buy." My dad's girlfriend gave me $20, and I went out today and bought Melissa Etheridge's "Breakdown" (found it used), and Sonya Kitchell's "Words Came Back To Me."

I applied at Coconuts, thinking that it would be cool working at a music store. We'll see what happens.

This weekend did come with some not so good news. Saturday night, my dad's work place got burned down by a fire that started in the building next to it. We went there Sunday, and it was horrible. There was people fishing through the debris looking for things they could salvage and use (these were random people, mind you, not people who worked there). Along with that, it apparently killed a couple of animals. There was fur on the ground in a few places, and it made me sick. I don't know what my dad's gonna do for a job now.

I may be overreacting, and you can be the judge of that. It's just that I'm so angry right now, and I need to write about it.

Two weeks ago, we had to bring in a poem or song lyrics that spoke to you for English class. I had originally chosen to bring in the song "Vrbana Bridge" by Jill Sobule. It's a beautiful love story. The lyrics are behind the cut.

Vrbana BridgeCollapse )

I wasn't sure about the lines "As she pulled him down and smiled/They lay on the bed/There were shouts all around/They could shut the whole war out/With the squeak of the springs/And tomorrow's dreams..." so I asked my teacher what she thought. She said that that line was fine, however she found it offensive. I said okay, and used another Jill song, "Manchild."

I was talking about it with my mom and her friends, Scott and Amy, at Borders after school the same week, and they couldn't find anything offensive in it. So today before class started, I went to my teacher with the lyrics on a piece of paper, and I said that I repected her opinion, but I was wondering what it was that she found offensive.
She says, "Well, what weren't you sure about for that song?"
I pointed to the lines I mentioned above and said, "This part."
Without looking at the paper, she says, "Yeah, that's the part I found offensive." I didn't want to mention that she said that that part was fine, because I didn't want to argue. Then, like some snobby girl like the ones who think of me as inferior because I'm not as popular, she says to me, "I don't get why you're asking, I mean YOU'RE the one who came up to me and ask me."
All I could manage to say was an "Okay" and went back to my seat.

I'm pretty sure it had to do with the fact that Allah is mentioned in the song. But, it's not saying anything against Allah; the lines are just "She asked for Allah's blessings/To keep them both alive." That was the feedback I got before I asked her today. Again, I may be overreacting, but what do you all think?

At least I can post the lyrics up here.

xoxo

Walking we are caught by tiny hooks that hold our hope
Our skin may be scratched, but nothing holds us back
I will be brave, I will be brave
My body may change, but my spirit will stay

About an hour ago, I got tickets to see Erin McKeown and Melissa Ferrick at the Theater of Living Arts in Philly! I haven't heard Melissa Ferrick's music, so I'm planning to sample some of her work the next time I go to FYE or Barnes & Noble or something like that. The concert's April 1st, and I can't wait!

Now, something I stole from Matty. It's something for you to fill out:

1. Who are you?
2. Who am I?
3. Do you love me? (As a friend)
4. Would you hug me?
5. Would you kiss me?
6. Would you like to meet me IRL?
7. If so, what would you want to do with me?
8. Ever wanted to tell me something but couldn't?
9. What makes me happy?
10. What makes me upset?
11. What would you do if I disappeared from the Internet for a month?
12. What would you do if I lost all access to the Internet?
13. How long do you think we will be friends?
14. Who is my best friend?
15. Where and/or when and/or how did we meet?
16. What was your first impression of me?
17. Do you still feel that way about me now?
18. Was this a waste of time?
19. Will you put this in your e-mail/LJ/other net blog/etc?
