Global Blacklist: How Order Checking Works

The Global Blacklist service helps your store detect risky orders by checking key customer details during checkout. It compares these details against a global fraud database to identify emails, IPs, phone numbers, or addresses that have been involved in previous fraud across other stores.

You don’t need to run anything manually. The plugin performs checks automatically whenever a customer places an order.


What the system checks on every new order

Depending on your plan (Free / Basic / Pro / Enterprise), the system can analyze:

  • Email address

  • IP address

  • Phone number (Basic & Pro & Enterprise)

  • Billing address (Pro & Enterprise)

  • Shipping address (Pro & Enterprise, if provided and different from billing)

If the shipping address exists and differs from billing, the system treats it as a separate identity. This helps catch mismatched or suspicious addresses commonly used in fraud attempts.


What the service returns

For each identity, you’ll receive:

  • How many times it has been reported

  • How severe the risk appears

  • How recently it was last reported

Then, the system generates a single overall result:

  • Allow – the order appears low risk

  • Challenge – the order looks suspicious

  • Block – the order appears high risk

How Decision Modes affect what happens next

You control how your store reacts to Global Blacklist results by choosing a Decision mode:

  • Light

    • Adds notes and logs only

    • No order status changes, no blocking

    • Useful if you want visibility without interruptions

  • Moderate

    • Adds notes

    • May change order status to “on-hold” for Challenge, “cancelled” for Block

    • Does not block checkout

    • Ideal for balanced protection without hurting conversions

  • Strict

    • Adds notes

    • Changes order status to “on-hold” for Challenge cases

    • Hard blocks checkout immediately for high-risk (“block”) cases

    • Best for stores that face frequent fraud attempts

This gives you full control over how aggressively your store responds to risky orders.


What happens if you reach your monthly limit?

If your store uses all its monthly checks:

  • Global Blacklist checking pauses automatically

  • Checkout still works normally

  • Protection resumes on the 1st of the next month

Your store never breaks or locks up; you simply lose fraud-checking temporarily.


How this works during real orders

  1. Customer places an order.

  2. The plugin sends the allowed identity details (based on your tier).

  3. Global Blacklist compares them with the fraud network.

  4. Your site immediately receives Allow, Challenge, or Block.

  5. The chosen Decision mode determines how your store reacts.

All of this happens instantly, without slowing down checkout, and without any manual work required.
