NEWS:
⊗ On Tuesday Magneto arrives in Washington, D.C, along with two brotherhood accompaniments and an armed security escort, for peace talks with President Vetinari. Various protests are held, highlighting that Henderson always stated the United States would 'Not negotiate with terrorists' while Vetinari appears to be doing just that.
⊗ On Thursday a cleric open about his X-Gene carrying status is blocked from becoming a bishop of the Catholic Church amid fears his consecration might split the Church.
⊗ On Sunday the 11th, a total solar eclipse will occur in the south Pacific. Many people are expected to head out to view it from Easter Island!

THE XAVIER INSTITUTE:
⊗ Summer holidays shenanigans continue!
⊗ There is a July the 4th BBQ! Everyone have fun and enjoy the sunshine.
⊗ By Monday the internet is back up and running and the mail servers are successfully moved across, much to the relief of the somewhat exhausted network staff.
⊗ In the tradition of weekly summer holiday events, there will be a Karaoke night Wednesday! Staff are not required to take part however may be gently encouraged, or peer-pressure may be applied.

THE BROTHERHOOD OF MUTANTS:
⊗ Magneto attempts to confront protestors on Tuesday, complete with prepared speech, but retreats rapidly after being hit by an egg.

WHAT WOLVERINE DID THIS WEEK:
⊗ Aided emergency services in Russia in an attempt to bring to justice an escaped Raccoon from a local zoo. After two failed attempts, involving shaking the tree and attempting to climb it -- and eventually the aid of the local fire brigade, it was third time lucky when the intrepid, somewhat ruffled and upset animal was finally subdued. Not, however, before it bit several of its would-be captors. The Raccoon is home and recovering well. Wolverine, luckily, heals quite quickly.

OOC NOTICES:
⊗ NOTE: If you have anything you wish to be in the news posts, for plots, ic things or just because you thought it'd be lulzy -- you can email your ideas to xavierinstitutemods at gmail!
⊗ Summer holidays! You are welcome to log any outside-institute things your characters get up to of course ♥
⊗ As ever, this post is open for talking about what's going down for Xavier Institute classes, homeroom group meetings, Brotherhood shenanigans, etc. We do encourage people to thread classes, group activities, etc. where possible rather than just handwaving all of them, but if you don't want to do a thread or you want to plan something or w/evs, this is the place!

NEWS:
⊗ On Monday Toronto police arrest over 600 people outside the G20 summit after protests grow violent. Protests highlighted issues such as poverty, gay and mutant rights problems, capitalization and many others. The summit focused mainly on the fallout of the financial crisis and global terror issues.
⊗ On Wednesday a source inside the government leaks news that a mutant registration bill may be coming into play. Rumours and accusations begin to fly, but so far no official comment has been made.
⊗ Over the Friday a radical Anti-Mutant group declares their support for any mutant registration scheme as long as the details are public, claiming that if mutants have nothing to hide they should not have a problem with it; employers have a right to know who they are employing and parents who they are leaving their children with.

THE XAVIER INSTITUTE:
⊗ Summer holidays shenanigans continue!
⊗ On Monday the IT staff begin to make use of the holidays to streamline the network and up security. This may result in internet outages during the week or inability to access internal services (such as email) while things are moved around.
⊗ There will be a gaming night on Wednesday, again because staff are hoping it'll keep students out of trouble while they recover. You can stay up beyond curfew! No rated games though, this is a school.

THE BROTHERHOOD OF MUTANTS:
⊗ Magneto goes on popular talkshow Ellen to discuss his new book 'Magneto: Deliverance from Oppression.' Having fallen into an argument with her over somewhat conflicting political views he berates her for not acting more like a professional and walks off. Within hours, the footage is being remixed in videos uploaded to the internet to comic effect. Magneto is not amused.

WHAT WOLVERINE DID THIS WEEK:
⊗ Having had his plans for an autobiography fall through, Wolverine is approached by Multiversal Studios who are hoping to cast him in an upcoming movie. Finding him disinterested and unhelpful, they decide he is not worth the extortionate fees he was asking. Wolverine adds that 'It was a waste of time.' Multiversal declined to comment.

NEWS:
⊗ On Monday the case against Doctor Farrell, previously of Tricell, continues as he is formally charged with involvement in the Henderson and Dopes assassination. His actions are announced to be separate from Tricell, although Tricell stocks do continue to drop as the fallout continues.
⊗ On Wednesday Lotta Hart publishes an article in the local gossip magazine that includes a photo claiming to show a flying saucer in the skies above New York.
⊗ Over the Weekend there is a free musical event in the Salem Center's outdoor concert area. The organizers are working hard along with local volunteers to help get the summer bash ready in time. Some of the performers include Fire Bomber, Josie and the Pussycats, the Gavinners, the Gullwings, and Powerline. Many more are expected to attend and participate, and the event promises to have a lot of hard rock. (Expect to see a slightly forward dated log.)

THE XAVIER INSTITUTE:
⊗ Summer holidays shenanigans continue!
⊗ On Tuesday an industry day is held! Representatives from various mutant-friendly organisations come forward to talk about the exciting opportunities they are willing to offer, and staff are encouraged to come forward and talk about their experiences out in the big wide world.
⊗ Now that the staff have finally caught Tolian Soran he has been taken into custody by the authorities and they are free to recover from the experience. Some Summer Classes are cancelled this week as they settle back into things. Students quietly celebrate.
⊗ There will be a movie night on Thursday, because staff are hoping it'll keep students out of trouble while they recover. You can stay up beyond curfew!

THE BROTHERHOOD OF MUTANTS:
⊗ Magneto publishes a book detailing his experiences as a leader figure in the mutant world entitled 'Magneto: Deliverance from Oppression.' In it he details the history of the continuing discrimination against mutantkind and his part in fighting it. His various defeats by the X-Men and their part in helping promote a positive mutant image are conveniently left out.

WHAT WOLVERINE DID THIS WEEK:
⊗ Rumours began to fly when Wolverine was seen in talks with big name publishers CarperHollins. However, Wolverine's plans to publish a best selling autobiography came under fire after his ghost writer apparently claimed Wolverine was 'Embellishing the facts too much' and that 'nobody would believe it'. Wolverine countered by commenting that 'The guy was an ass'. Plans for the Autobiography are now on hold, however the writer is now making his own plans for a book based on his experiences with Wolverine entitled 'Taming the wolf: when egos collide'.

OOC NOTICES:
⊗ NOTE: If you have anything you wish to be in the news posts, for plots, ic things or just because you thought it'd be lulzy -- you can email your ideas to xavierinstitutemods at gmail!
⊗ Staff plot draws to a close! If you want your staff member to take part, they can -- however anything related to it is now backdated.

NEWS:
⊗ On Monday Vetinari begins to make moves to undo the stop on X-Gene travel, much to the distaste of anti-mutant activists. When asked about the dangers of allowing X-Gene carriers this right in an 'Age of growing terrorism', Vetinari calmly replies that he doubts they need to board a plane to cause trouble if that is indeed what they plan to do. It is also Flag Day!
⊗ On Wednesday local authorities announce that they have detained Doctor Farrell, no longer an employee at Tricell, and are questioning him. When pressed on whether Doctor Farrell, and in turn Tricell, may have been involved in the assassinations they declined to comment at this time. Tricell denies any knowledge of Farrell's intentions.
⊗ Over the Weekend the weather is absolutely glorious!
⊗ This week is also summer Restaurant Week, enjoy great food on a budget!

THE XAVIER INSTITUTE:
⊗ Summer holidays shenanigans continue!
⊗ On Wednesday an inter-homeroom water fight is organised for those still at the institute to take advantage of the fair weather. Cheating is anticipated, but discouraged.
⊗ Staff continue to investigate the intentions of Tolian Soran, who is looking shadier by the minute.
⊗ There will be a BBQ put on by catering at lunch on Friday, because everyone likes those.

THE BROTHERHOOD OF MUTANTS:
⊗ Magneto is spotted at a local, and extremely exclusive restaurant attempting to take advantage of restaurant week. There is embarrassment all round when it is discovered he does not have a booking, and his cape gets caught in the door on the way out rather undermining his attempt to leave with some dignity.

WHAT WOLVERINE DID THIS WEEK:
⊗ Spends some time assisting at a retirement home as part of his community service after causing a large amount of property damage attempting to apprehend Doctor Spectrometer, a local villain who had been mixing reds into white washing at several laundromats in the area. It is suspected Wolverine himself may have been a victim of one of the attacks.

NEWS:
⊗ On Tuesday Vetinari is fast making moves to undo various legislations, causing a stir among those angry that someone has come to power with no say from them. Vetinari counters that the laws controlling X-Gene carriers were vague, and that he is simply putting things back the way they were and in a more defined manner. Various Pro-X-Gene papers write well supporting the age of Vetinari, however some call it the end of democracy.
⊗ On Thursday speculation over whether Vetinari is an X-Gene carrier comes to a head, with accusations being made that he has been planted by the Brotherhood of Mutants. Vetinari politely points out that if he had been, there are far worse things he could be doing.
⊗ Over the Weekend, players of MMORPG The World wake up to a surprise. It seems a graphical glitch of some kind gives all the characters afros. CC Corp is looking into the issue and will make a statement that gameplay is otherwise normal.

THE XAVIER INSTITUTE:
⊗ On Wednesday a strange light is seen in the sky, and although the media reports it as a meteor shower those in the institute know a little better. A small ship, appearing to be in trouble, is rescued via the combined efforts of Sanctuary and various institute Staff. Various refugees are taken in, the most vocal among them a scientist known as Tolian Soran who claims he needs to get back to his research as soon as possible. A staff meeting is scheduled for later in the week to discuss options.
⊗ Summer Holidays begin for students! Of course, a lot of Summer classes are being run. So don't think you're getting off that easily!
⊗ Summer holidays shenanigans!

THE BROTHERHOOD OF MUTANTS:
⊗ Magneto plays on people's fears this week by making grand speeches about the age of the X-Gene carriers, the superiority of mutants and how the time has finally come in which they will be recognised not as equals -- but as the next evolution of mankind.

WHAT WOLVERINE DID THIS WEEK:
⊗ Attends a football game and becomes embroiled in a very large fight while attempting to stop a very small one.

OOC NOTICES:
⊗ NOTE: If you have anything you wish to be in the news posts, for plots, ic things or just because you thought it'd be lulzy -- you can email your ideas to xavierinstitutemods at gmail!

NEWS:
⊗ On Monday the clean up from the chaos of Farrell's genetically modified creatures is interrupted by an emergency broadcast first thing. The U.S. Congress and White House declare a state of emergency after President Carline Henderson and Vice President Basil Dopes are assassinated during a speech condemning Tricell's lack of security measures and what is surely a movement by the Brotherhood of Mutants to threaten the safety of the American people. Speaker of the House Havelock Vetinari steps forward during the aftermath to assure people that the situation is being thoroughly investigated. In an official statement he says that threats against the United States are taken seriously, and that steps will be taken to deal with the situation as swiftly as possible. Speculation in the media ranges from expecting a tougher line on terrorist threats to more X-Gene friendly policies.
⊗ On Thursday JFK security finally moves to a lower state as the protests begin to wind down. Officials anticipate a statement soon from Vetinari regarding the current block on X-Gene carriers travelling and X-Gene scanners, since rumours have been circulating the Vetinari himself may be an X-Gene carrier. No official confirmation has been made either way.
⊗ In less political news, on Friday Mask*DeMasque steals a priceless jewel encrusted necklace from a museum in California. Local news reports that Detectives are hot on the case.

THE XAVIER INSTITUTE:
⊗ PROM CLEAN UP
⊗ Homeroom topic of the week (and perhaps, some classes) in light of current events is politics!
⊗ Things seem like, despite all the unrest, they might now be taking a turn in the right direction. Have hope!
⊗ THE WEATHER IS GLORIOUS.

THE BROTHERHOOD OF MUTANTS:
⊗ Magneto, in an open message to Vetinari, sends his congratulations to the new President stating that he hopes his term in presidency will herald a brighter future for mutantkind; he makes several mentions of how closely the world - and Genosha - will be watching over the upcoming months, especially regarding the controversial policies on X-Gene carriers.

WHAT WOLVERINE DID THIS WEEK:
⊗ After his short lived Suncraft addiction leaves him in a less than fit state, is reported to be trying out a new Health Food diet following a warning from a doctor. This doesn't last long after a rather embarrassing accident with a blender when trying to make a green vegetable smoothie.

NEWS:
⊗ On Tuesday reports emerge of a woman being attack near the Tricell building by what appeared to be some kind of oversized mutant wolf. Some more sensationalist papers continue to claim that this is connected to the artificial X-Gene project, however others more sensibly suggest that it was most likely a dog and she exaggerated simply to have a story to sell. Tricell, as usual, makes no official comment on the matter -- in fact, attempts to get hold of the department in question are met with no response. One inside source finally helpfully breaks silence to say that Doctor Farrell, the lead on this project, is currently unavailable for comment sparking a new wave of sensationalist theories.
⊗ On Thursday the JFK airport protests continue as security goes into even higher alert. Officials tell the public to stay calm as the moves are just a precaution, however the papers report an anticipated response from Magneto and other X-Gene carriers.
⊗ On Friday the servers of the website for popular online game Suncraft crash after being unable to cope with a surge of people trying to sign up, hoping to compete against a well known celebrity.

THE XAVIER INSTITUTE:
PROM ON MONDAY.
⊗ There will, as usual, be staff chaperones to make sure everyone is on their best behaviour.

THE BROTHERHOOD OF MUTANTS:
⊗ A flurry of activity is reported from Genosha. It appears that what is left of Magneto's followers are experiencing a renewed sense of purpose, and something is being planned.

WHAT WOLVERINE DID THIS WEEK:
⊗ While taking some time off, takes up Suncraft -- a competitive strategy game. He goes through several computer screens thanks to a somewhat sore reaction to losses.

OOC NOTICES:
⊗ NOTE: If you have anything you wish to be in the news posts, for plots, ic things or just because you thought it'd be lulzy -- you can email your ideas to xavierinstitutemods at gmail!

NEWS:
⊗ On Monday various reports begin to appear of strange creatures being spotted in and around the Tricell building. Some papers claim that this must be connected to the artificial X-Gene project, and wild theories begin to emerge over experimentation with the X-Gene and military projects. Of course Tricell, as usual, makes no official comment on the matter.
⊗ On Wednesday Senator Baelheit makes his views on the JFK airport riots known, saying that the equipment exists for the safety of all citizens of the United States of America and the stop on mutant travel will continue until public safety can be ensured. Henderson, although still walking the line on these issues, steps forward to back Baelheit. It is categorically stated, in what is clearly a strike out against Magneto, that the United States will stand strong with these decisions. They understand the situation fully, and will not negotiate with terrorists.
⊗ On Friday elementary school teacher Ms. Frizzle once more breaks the world record for winning the most "Best Teacher of the Year" awards in a row.

THE XAVIER INSTITUTE:
⊗ Clippy has, much to the relief of the both staff and students, released control of the network once more. Various machines damaged during moments of frustration have been passed on to maintenance.
⊗ The Prom theme is officially announced: The Roaring Twenties!
⊗ Classes this month note that it is in fact both Mental Health Awareness Month (stay sane, folks!) and National Military Appreciation Month!
⊗ Some tutors also note that it is, less officially, National Hamburger Month and Zombie Awareness Month. Posters go up noting that Zombie Film nights will be held. For educational purposes, of course.
⊗ It's officially staying warmer and drier. In fact, you might even manage to get out those short sleeves!

THE BROTHERHOOD OF MUTANTS:
⊗ Magneto has yet to make an official response to Baelheit and Henderson, but inside sources hint that he has not taken it well.

WHAT WOLVERINE DID THIS WEEK:
⊗ Discovered google, and is not seen for several days after (in a great show of commitment) attempting to read every page that comes up when he searches for himself.

OOC NOTICES:
⊗ As ever, this post is open for talking about what's going down for Xavier Institute classes, homeroom group meetings, Brotherhood shenanigans, etc. We do encourage people to thread classes, group activities, etc. where possible rather than just handwaving all of them, but if you don't want to do a thread or you want to plan something or w/evs, this is the place!

NEWS:
⊗ On Tuesday rumours begin to circulate that Tricell are not just on the cusp of an X-Gene 'cure', but have also been working on atrifically reproducing the X-Gene. Tricell makes no official comment on the matter.
⊗ On Thursday there is heavy media coverage of a peaceful protest turned riot outside JFK airport over the continued use of X-Gene scanners. Police clash with protestors and 25 are detained, 9 injured.

THE XAVIER INSTITUTE:
⊗ The holidays are over! Welcome back.
⊗ A new mentoring system is unveiled in the form of Homeroom groups.
⊗ In response to recent events, an unofficial X-Gene diversity week is being celebrated to promote understanding. Students (and staff!) are encouraged to explain the benefits and drawbacks of their mutations and share experiences. A good way to get to know people in your new Homeroom groups!
⊗ Preparations for Spring prom are underway! Hopefully those dancing classes have paid off.
⊗ It's still warm and rainy, although it's definitely staying drier this week. Enjoy it!

THE BROTHERHOOD OF MUTANTS:
⊗ Magneto congratulates those who had the courage to fight back on Thursday, stating that systematic oppression of mutants by mankind must be stopped by any means possible. He goes on to add that people will always fear what they cannot understand, but to resist the march of evolution is foolish.

WHAT WOLVERINE DID THIS WEEK:
⊗ Battled an evil group known as Team Galactic. Their nefarious plans seemed to have the rather tragic flaw that they didn't expect anyone to try and stop them, and their guards, despite huge arrogance, were not... particularly impressive.

OOC NOTICES:

⊗ Thankfully, all the hallucinations appear to have stopped. Of course, if you are still worried, the infirmary will take care of you.

⊗ Holiday begins! You have a week off!

⊗ For those who wish to stay at the institute, it will of course stay open and some study sessions will be run by available teachers.

⊗ There's rumours of a new mentor group system when you get back!

WHAT WOLVERINE DID THIS WEEK:

⊗ Also took a week off, although he ended up battling a giant sea crab while on vacation.

OOC NOTICES:

⊗ MERRY CHRISTMAS! And of course, if you want to log shenanigans with your chars on holiday you can do ♥

⊗ There's still time if you want to being moved, or point to a problem / share an opinion on the new Homeroom groups.

NEWS:
⊗ On Tuesday an oil platform explodes in the Gulf of Mexico, creating one of the largest oil spills in history. The damaging effects of its continuing spread prompt international debate -- however a positive light is shone on the help of mutants during the laborious clean up duty.
⊗ On Thursday the debate over the 'We still deserve rights' viral campaign is once more inflamed after a soldier is pictured wearing a t-shirt containing the slogan. An investigation reveals him to not be carrying the X-Gene, however he makes the following statement: "Some of the best men I have had the priviledge of serving with have been X-Gene carriers. They have been a credit to their units, and the idea that they might be some kind of danger to themselves or others -- more so than any other soldier, is not something which should be reason enough to warrant this continued game of secrecy and segregation in men who want nothing more than to serve their country."
⊗ An article is run in a well known tabloid newspaper on the Xavier Institute, supposedly outing it as a secret facility for brainwashing young mutants. It goes on to explain that the school aspect is a cover, and that the facility contains a large training room where those that are recruited are trained to be part of a mutant uprising. Xavier categorically denies this, but while some dismiss the article it does generate some unease.

THE XAVIER INSTITUTE:
⊗ The institute has run an investigation into the continued fire alarm activations and the problem is now, hopefully, fixed. Enjoy your sleep.
⊗ Mandatory dance class starts this week! Appropriate shoes will be provided to anyone who needs them, and students will be paired up according to talent levels. [ link ]
⊗ A large number of hallucinations have been noticed among both students and staff within the institute. If you feel you might be effected, pleased report to the infirmary for your own safety. Please also take care of your fellow students and look out for any signs of abnormal behaviour in them. The matter is still being looked into.
⊗ The weather is rainy, but not too cold! Just make sure you bring an umbrella.

THE BROTHERHOOD OF MUTANTS:
⊗ Magneto sports a rather fetching 'We still deserve rights' t-shirt. It does not match particularly well with his cape.

WHAT WOLVERINE DID THIS WEEK:
⊗ Battled an alarmingly large spider which had made its home in the sewers under New York City. What was perhaps slightly more alarming was the number of children it appeared to have, all of which swarmed to its rescue. Unfortunately for them, Wolverine does not believe in kindness towards bugs. The mess is still being cleared.

OOC NOTICES:

NEWS:
⊗ Even after his televised confession on Friday, authorities are unable to find the mutant terrorist Zero, who was responsible for scrambling the X-gene scanners at every airport in the United States. On Saturday, the scanners were finally returned to normal operations.
⊗ On Monday, a viral campaign starts making its way around in which noted celebrities are pictured wearing 'We still deserve rights' t-shirts and admitting that they are mutants (although the exact nature of some of their mutations is unknown.) The campaign brings together well known singers, actors/actresses, presenters, scientists and other household names to focus on how their mutation does not stop them from being who they are.
⊗ On Wednesday, the 'Jesus was a Mutant' Christian support group are reported to be helping X-Gene carriers stranded at airports, unable to re-enter the country under the new mutant travel restrictions. "We believe it is our duty to support those in need. The government has abandoned these people, but that doesn't mean we have to as well."
⊗ One particular human interest story covered is of a couple whose marriage plans have been disrupted after the visa application of the wife-to-be was rejected under new X-Gene laws. "She's done nothing wrong," the husband was quoted as saying, "Her mutation isn't even noticeable, she just has a higher body temperature and doesn't get cold. How is that a danger to anyone?" Authorities have declined to comment.

THE XAVIER INSTITUTE:
⊗ Mandatory Dance once a month will be in effect starting with the first session next week!
⊗ A learning styles and revising methods day will be held on Tuesday -- no classes that day! But a lovely visiting teacher will be on hand to teach you to make flashcards, mind maps and help you work out if you are a visual, auditory or kinaesthetic learner! Don't worry, she has a lot of chocolate to bribe you into paying attention with...
⊗ On Thursday, in response to recent events, instead of their regular class after lunch all students have a Political Involvement class which pushes the importance of voting, how the government effects you and local issues and what you can do.

THE BROTHERHOOD OF MUTANTS:
⊗ Magneto appears at a protest against the new X-Gene carriers travel laws. Appearing dramatically atop a roof, he begins a speech centred around the oppression of mutants when his cloak snags rather unfortunately on a nearby spire and pulls him over. Amid jeers, he condemns the childishness and ignorance of the crowd and flees.

WHAT WOLVERINE DID THIS WEEK:
⊗ Was spotted wearing a 'We still deserve rights' t-shirt while subduing a rogue army of robots working in a factory who suddenly decided to rebel. The t-shirt did not last long.

⊗ A media backlash against the idea of putting the "mutant cure" in the public water supply causes Kentucky's governor to backpedal, claiming that his statement last Monday was meant in jest. No one buys it.
⊗ Pro-mutant-rights group Jesus Was A Mutant Too starts a charity fundraiser to help mutant victims of violence, who they claim are underrepresented and thrown by the wayside. In the first three days, they raise $100,000.

THE XAVIER INSTITUTE:
⊗ It continues to rain until Tuesday, and remains cloudy for all of Wednesday. On Thursday the sun finally comes out, and it starts to get warmer.
⊗ There's a field trip on Friday. Something interesting might happen, so consider attending!
⊗ Planning for the spring prom continues.

THE BROTHERHOOD OF MUTANTS:
⊗ Magneto makes a statement that he is disappointed in the lack of progress the defected members of his Brotherhood have made, and welcomes all who wish to make a positive difference for mutants to join him on Genosha, which by now is mostly cleaned up and liveable.

WHAT WOLVERINE DID THIS WEEK:
⊗ After getting trapped in the 1960's last week, he defeated the criminal he was fighting and then took the slow way back to 2010. Miraculously, no time paradoxes were caused by this.

OOC NOTICES:
⊗ Remember: Sanctuary is happy to help young mutants to the Institute (be it from their own homes or from Genosha) or just take them in themselves. It's also willing to work with trusted independent characters (pretty much just ping us and you can become trusted through some plot device) on things. Basically, Sanctuary is there to give you things to do while not being too plot heavy or tied down to classes and such! They also hunt monsters sometimes. It's all cool.
⊗ As ever, this post is open for talking about what's going down for Xavier Institute classes, mentor group meetings, Brotherhood shenanigans, etc. We do encourage people to thread classes, mentor group activities, etc. where possible rather than just handwaving all of them, but if you don't want to do a thread or you want to plan something or w/evs, this is the place!

NEWS:
⊗ On Monday, political commentator Ben Gleck makes waves when he proposes putting the "mutant cure" in the public water supply. Kentucky's governor goes on record as saying that it "might not be such a bad idea".
⊗ On Thursday, Red Lamp News airs an exclusive report on "the mutant problem" airs. Much ado is made about Tricell's potential mutant cure, but nothing that wasn't known before is revealed. There is, however, plenty of dramatic, scary music, interviews with tearful parents whose mutant children turned to drugs and crime, and an interview with a mutant teenager sitting in a shadowy room, voice altered electronically, who speaks in favor of the mutant cure as it would relieve her of her "power" which forces her to obey any command given to her.
⊗ This week, Zero is at it again. On Thursday, during the RLN special expose on the Tricell "mutant cure," Zero Airlines interrupts every single commercial break, preventing all ads that actually paid for airtime from being broadcast. Early reports during the days following are unable to trace the source of the broadcasts, but Zero is standing before a flag bearing his logo during each one. He’s got quite a lot to say about the flaws on both sides of this conflict. (During the broadcast, Lelouch uses his time for something productive, and takes his sister to Salem Center for a little shopping.)

THE XAVIER INSTITUTE:
⊗ It's raining. Raining all week. Get those raincoats out of storage, kids!
⊗ This week, word gets out that Spring Prom will be happening on May 24. Student Council, it's up to you to help plan and, if you like, put together a prom committee. Pick a theme! Make decorations! The staff will help you if you need anything.

THE BROTHERHOOD OF MUTANTS:
⊗ On Tuesday, Magneto makes a public statement that Ben Gleck is a pox on the face of the Earth.
⊗ Magneto's laser-eyed falcon catches a particularly large and plump mouse for dinner on Wednesday.

WHAT WOLVERINE DID THIS WEEK:
⊗ Got trapped in the 1960's after chasing a criminal in a Delorean. Will he make it back home?!

NEWS:
⊗ March must be the month for science and medicine, because on Monday Tricell Inc. announces that it's on the cusp of a "cure" for the X-Gene. The media begins a frenzy over the news, running stories with pictures of children with dramatic physical mutations who 'just want to be normal'. Senator Baelheit voices his support for the cure, saying the hard work of Tricell on this could be the building blocks for an age of peace.
⊗ Collegiate Hugh Kessinger, on trial for the assault of a mutant teenager, has his plea of "guilty to animal cruelty" narrowly rejected, causing a sigh of relief among Mutant Rights protesters.
⊗ The Miners' Sickness vaccine has been distributed to all medical facilities; initial reports claim that the spread of the disease has slowed to a crawl, with only a few new cases in the past week. United States citizens are urged to seek vaccination at their local hospital.

THE XAVIER INSTITUTE:
⊗ The Spring Festival is over, and classes are back on! Because everyone loves classes.
⊗ The sky is particularly grey and sodden this week, almost in response to the festival coming to an end.

THE BROTHERHOOD OF MUTANTS:
⊗ The Brotherhood may have been quiet, but Magneto has been keeping an eye on recent news stories. On Wednesday he steps forward to make his views publicly known on the assault trial's narrow win and the making of an X-Gene 'vaccine'. "These humans believe we are nothing but animals, lower life forms not even to be accorded the same rights as themselves. In reality, they are the savages unable to accept that their time is over; it is we who shall bring the world into a new era, a superior era. There is no hope for the human race if they cannot accept this simple fact, so I say to you: rise up, my brothers and sisters, let us rise up and show them what it means to be evolved."

SANCTUARY FOR ALL:
⊗ Like Magneto, Sanctuary launches a media counter-offensive within their network. Unlike Magneto, theirs is polite and reasoned. They linger on how the mutant gene is not a disease that needs to be cured, and the unimportance of the difference between human and mutant, and conclude with a plea for a universal respect for all beings, no matter their genetics. "Now more than ever, it is vital that we push the boundaries of our understanding."

WHAT WOLVERINE DID THIS WEEK:
⊗ Spent his weekend undercover in a Cosplay Cafe. Whether he intended to draw out the sleeper agents of the Hand and get into a no-holds-barred ninja fight while dressed as a magical girl or not, the public remains baffled.

OOC NOTICES:
⊗ Remember: Sanctuary is happy to help young mutants to the Institute (be it from their own homes or from Genosha) or just take them in themselves. NEWS:
⊗ Allyson Fava, a spokeswoman for the pro-mutant Christian group Jesus Was A Mutant Too, is injured on Monday in a protest over the court proceedings surrounding the assault of Nicholas Fenn, the mutant teenager attacked by college student Hugh Kesinger. (See last GU! -Ed.) Members of the anti-mutant but similarly religious Stryker Crusade are alleged to have been involved in the attack but no definitive proof is available. Fava is not seriously hurt, but the JWAMT website is updated with even more lengthy tirades against the Stryker Crusade than usual over the course of the following week.
⊗ On Tuesday a small spacecraft enters Earth's atmosphere, bearing a watchmaster of the Jedi order. The Jedi being as they are known allies of the space-faring Fantastic Four, the ship is permitted to land on the Baxter Building with little incident. Rumours circulate about the nature of the visit; the watchmaster is expected to make contact with the public on Wednesday.
⊗ The initial trial stages of the vaccine for the newly-named 'Miners' Sickness' appear to have been successful, and it enters mass production on Thursday.

THE XAVIER INSTITUTE:
⊗ The Spring Festival will run from Tuesday to Thursday, with Friday allocated for cleaning up. EVERYBODY WILL HELP WITH THIS WHETHER THEY LIKE IT OR NOT. There will be a big Festival log some time this coming week, and classes will start again next Monday because everyone loves learning.
⊗ The weather stays cold, but there are signs of spring flowers emerging and it looks to be clear for the festival.

THE BROTHERHOOD OF MUTANTS:
⊗ S.H.I.E.L.D. have an encounter with Magneto this week after accidentally discovering they use the same tailor for their costumes. After the initial embarrassment, and a small fight, the two agree the other has good taste and part ways. Local gossip magazines reveal photographs the next day which show that Magneto does, indeed, have a new cape.

SANCTUARY FOR ALL:
⊗ Doctor Helen Magnus will be giving talks this week on the study of mutant genetics and how it can be useful for both X-Gene carriers and non-carriers alike. Additionally, other members of Sanctuary will join her for the duration of the visit and she will be happy to answer any questions. No mutant kittens this time.

WHAT WOLVERINE DID THIS WEEK:
⊗ Battled his way to the top of the Eiffel tower, where a group of supervillians had planted a Sixties Ray that was making the inhabitants of France believe the sixties were back in fashion, in an attempt to sell awful clothing they'd designed. Nobody was harmed thanks to Wolverine and the swift response of the Paris fashion police.

OOC NOTICES:
⊗ Remember: Sanctuary is happy to help young mutants to the Institute (be it from their own homes or from Genosha) or just take them in themselves. Basically, Sanctuary is there to give you things to do while not being too plot heavy or tied down to classes and such! They also hunt monsters sometimes. It's all cool.
⊗ Since classes are cancelled for the Spring Festival, this post is for planning out festival goodness, mentor groups, etc. We strongly encourage people to thread this stuff, mentor group activities, etc. where possible rather than just handwaving it, but if you don't have time for a thread or you want to plan something before threading or w/evs, this is the place!

NEWS:
⊗ As reported in a number of medical journals, several research teams have been coordinating globally on the mysterious worldwide illness; they reveal on Monday that they have had a breakthrough in their research. The head of the American team announces separately that they have begun to synthesize a vaccine, which should be available within the next week.

⊗ On Tuesday, the trial of a man accused of assaulting a mutant teenager comes under heavy media scrutiny when the attorney for the defense moves to downgrade the charges against his client to animal cruelty. The attorney makes a further statement to the press in which he alludes to 'the clear line between human and animal'. "Whilst the law is still unclear in cases like my client's, it is safe to say that if it has fur, claws and a tail, it does not count as human under United States law. My client should not have done what he did, but he is not guilty of assault."

THE XAVIER INSTITUTE:
Spring festival planning continues! People must have a formal idea to submit by the end of this week. The idea is allowed to progress and change as you go along, the teachers simply want to know you're getting involved and doing something!

If your character no longer has a mentor, due to their mentor leaving/being on hiatus, leave a comment in the designated thread below and choose one of the following options:
A. they would not icly do anything about this, and I am fine with them skipping/trouble-causing until mentor groups are formally re-arranged
B. they would not icly do anything about this, however I would like them to be forced to join a mentor group at least temporarily for the festival (random)
C. they would not icly do anything about this, however I would like them to be forced to join a mentor group at least temporarily for the festival (and I have a mentor in mind)
D. They would mention it to staff, and be assigned a mentor group at least temporarily for the festival (random)
E. They would mention it to staff, and be assigned a mentor group at least temporarily for the festival (and I have a mentor in mind)
⊗ Please try not to all ask for one mentor! We don't want to overload any single team.

THE BROTHERHOOD OF MUTANTS:
Dr. Nicholas Rush (AKA Fox) is found half-drowned at an undisclosed coastal location by two Sanctuary agents; upon waking he immediately requests asylum at the Institute.

SANCTUARY FOR ALL:
⊗ A group of Sanctuary operatives have taken time off to visit the Spring Festival, see your lovely booths and give guest lectures on Sanctuary and the work they do. They will be available to answer any questions students or staff might have regarding the organisation. Within reason.

WHAT WOLVERINE DID THIS WEEK:
⊗ STOPPED A MAD SCIENTIST WHO WAS ATTEMPTING TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD (starting with new york, of course) WITH GENETICALLY MODIFIED MUTANT KITTEN ARMIES. The kittens were unharmed. Some observant bloggers wonder why there are so many experiments involving kittens lately.

OOC NOTICES:
⊗ Remember: Sanctuary is happy to help young mutants to the Institute (be it from their own homes or from Genosha) or just take them in themselves. NEWS:
Reverend William Stryker, head of the evangelical Christian anti-mutant group known as the Stryker Crusade, issues a statement on Sunday in which he asserts that there is no reason for any controversy to surround President Henderson's giving permission for the CIA to assassinate the suspected mutant terrorist and US citizen Crossfire, since US citizenship by definition can only apply to humans. He goes on to add that by definition all mutants present in the USA are terrorists.
⊗ On Tuesday, Victor Von Doom declares his intent to regain control of Latveria. Its current ruler, the woman known only as Mistress, makes no verbal response; her official reply consists in its entirety of smug laughter.
Zero Airlines' first full showing of what it is capable of occurs in the skies above Germany on Wednesday. Amateur video appears on Youtube, etc., depicting nearly impossible evasive maneuvers for a plane of its size. It deploys machine guns, smart missiles, and advanced defense mechanisms to protect itself from being shot down by US Air Force when its flight path takes it over Ramstein Air Force Base. It lands safely in Hamburg, discharges its passengers and cargo, and takes off again all in less than fifteen minutes before dropping off of radar.

THE XAVIER INSTITUTE:
Professor Xavier kicks off the week on Monday by making a reassuring speech about what exactly terrorism entails, why mutants are not terrorists just by existing, and why Stryker is a big loserpants.
⊗ Classes are cancelled this week and next as preparations begin for the Xavier Institute's Spring Festival! Mentor groups are encouraged to put together a booth, event, or something similar for the festival; groups may band together or compete with one another. Any money the students need has to be raised via fundraiser, to keep the wealthier students from overwhelming everyone else.
⊗ While classes are canceled, the school administration takes this opportunity to begin Control Class Reassessments to determine which students need some extra attention, which students can be tested out of the class, and whether any already-tested-out students need to be put back in the class.
⊗ On Monday, while borrowing the power of a precognitive classmate, student Marco McCain suffers a vision that overloads his system and causes him to pass out, but not before uttering the uselessly cryptic "The darkness... Mother, it burns..." He slips into a coma, and there's no telling when he'll recover.

THE BROTHERHOOD OF MUTANTS:
Inferno is looking for anybody interested in joining his Sexy Villainous Group now that he is without Joule. Sexiness required, villainry recommended but optional.
⊗ In response to Stryker's statement about mutants, Magneto claims later in the week that all humans everywhere are terrorists.

SANCTUARY FOR ALL:
⊗ Someone from Sanctuary rescues a number of adorable, multicolored, cloned kittens with gemstones set in their foreheads from an evil genetic research facility where they were being experimented on. Currently, the organization is trying to figure out what to do with them all and determine whether or not they possess elemental powers. (So far it looks like no.)

WHAT WOLVERINE DID THIS WEEK:
⊗ The macarena.

OOC NOTICES:
⊗ THE DARKNESS PLOT IS NOW OVER. Everyone is back in the correct dimension and nobody remembers it if their player doesn't want them to. You are, of course, welcome to go on threading that stuff, but from this point on it's backdated.
⊗ Remember: Sanctuary is happy to help young mutants to the Institute (be it from their own homes or from Genosha) or just take them in themselves. It's also willing to work with trusted independent characters (pretty much just ping us and you can become trusted through some plot device) on things. ⊗ If you want to volunteer one of your teachers to help run the Control Reassessments, comment here! We intend to have this threaded out ICly, meaning fun and shenanigans for all!
