simple, elegant, while optimal. this is what we’ve been looking for since 2018. after so many iterations, jolteon, decoupled execution, quorum store, order vote, raptr etc, we’re finally here - the end game of high throughput low latency blockchain design!

since i’m on a cruise and most of time the restaurant is self served, it’s a great example of how static parallelism can become a disaster - anyone comes in the restaurant locks the whole place because they might “potentially” try anything, can you imagine all-you-can-eat

I've read the parallelism comparison. Overall, it's not too bad, considering they are Sui maxis. I guess BlockSTM is so good that even a biased report couldn't make it look bad. However, the conclusion is wrong. Sui is much less efficient in contented workloads because it

Big milestone to celebrate, but I'm not going to pretend consensus is everything. e2e latency with high throughput is what matters in the end. (Besides consensus, there's data dissemination, execution, storage, state sync, indexer etc) We have more exciting improvements coming

- Static parallelism vs Dynamic parallelism The biggest divergence to me is that aptos believes dynamic parallelism can scale while sui doesn’t . Too early to say which direction is right but hope everyone agrees requiring dependency annotation is a worse dev experience. Sui’s

we actually decoupled the execution from consensus from libra/diem days. I was leading the effort back in the days github.com/diem/dip/pull/… glad to see many other chains including sui and avax recently follow the same approach to scale the blockchain.

imo if the production code were much better, you should just run the same failure setup and slap on @SashaSpiegelman 's face with data instead of just these pretty empty words. even describe what exactly improved reliability of uncertified dag would be better

When researching Mysticeti which is only 1.5-year old, it is a waste of time to experiment on its 1-year old prototype instead of its latest codebase on Sui (github.com/MystenLabs/sui…), unless the intention is to create fud. We have been adding all kinds of reliability and fault
