You're familiar with the phrase "man's reach exceeds his grasp"?
It's a lie: man's grasp exceeds his nerve.
Thank you to our partners @greybaker@t_blom and the entire @ycombinator for literally flipping our trajectory.
YC basically stopped accepting Indian founders.
The numbers are brutal:
2021: 66 accepted
2023: 12 accepted
2025: 1 accepted
That's a 98% drop.
The reason? U.S. visa rejections.
@gigaai founders beat Claude on LLM benchmarks - then got rejected for U.S. visas. Twice.
I doubt it'll work. Actual in-person processes are never in sync with their "official schemes and subsidies". You will always need to get in touch with a "person".
while everyone on twitter is busy debating how Y Combinator doesn’t back Indian startups lol, @_groww just became the first YC company to go public in India today 🇮🇳 .
congratulations to the entire team.
hugely inspiring & very big shoes to fill in for us.
Got reminded of this decade old article by @maheshmurthymedium.com/art-marketing/…
“The Facebook of India is Facebook, the Google of India is Google, and the Twitter of India is Twitter”
just surpassed 10 billion cumulative input tokens usage (and this is just for hosted @OpenAI APIs!!!)
growing 7x over the last 5 months! 🔥
still waiting for our milestone awards @sama
Mind blown exploring @cognition_labs Deepwiki project on our Bolna's open-source voice orchestration engine.
The summaries and architectural diagrams it generates are quite accurate.
deepwiki.com/bolna-ai/bolna
we built DeepWiki, a free encyclopedia of all GitHub repos
some numbers:
- 30k repos already indexed
- processed 4 billion+ lines of code
- the indexing alone cost $300k+ in compute spend
A decade back in 2014, I learned about @ycombinator through a startup called @algolia while working on designing search systems at @zomato.
Fast forward to today - @dessaigne just starred our repo. Definitely not on my 2025 bingo card 🤯.
It’s a great thing - but in my personal experience for both me + parents, the doctors got offended when I asked them queries (these were top #1 Indian doctors in their respective domains). So now I have to prepare extensively on how to frame it before visiting them.
We've open sourced our voice AI orchestration at github.com/bolna-ai/bolna in case anyone wants to build something in this domain. :)
There has been tremendous interest from EU to build similar things which will eventually trickle down here.
Thrilled to share that @bolna_dev is now part of @ycombinator 🚀
From day one, we’ve been obsessed with solving real customer pain points. YC gives us the platform to scale our vision faster.
Huge thanks to our incredible team, early investors, & customers who believed in us.
