On World AIDS Day, I'm remembering my first boyfriend, Doug Racic, car mechanic by day, illegal party promoter and general bon vivant by night, capable of great generosity and wicked sass. Gone too soon. I will never forget you. R.I.P.

"Can Such Delightful Times Go On Forever?" is OUT NOW from Thrill Jockey Records; always antifascist / free palestine
- Replying to @xSoftPinkTruthxI’m moved to see people responding in such numbers to his memory. Doug had a wickedly dark sense of humor and great love and loyalty towards his friends. He had been a teenage runaway from Canada who built a new life in the Bay Area. He loved cars, sci-fi, his pitbull, dancing.
- Replying to @xSoftPinkTruthxI know I’m rambling but I wanted to try to sketch the person I lost and not just the brute fact of how and when and why he died- he would not want to be reduced in that way. Survivor guilt aside, I am simply lucky to have known him.
- Replying to @xSoftPinkTruthxwhen we started the relationship I had just come out, I was 18, and had a lot of hangups and shame about being queer and about dance music (residual hardcore kid macho)- and Doug helped get me over those attitudes too. He was truly, unashamedly hedonistic.
- Replying to @xSoftPinkTruthxDoug is the reason that I got my first sampler- Doug owned a house, which meant he had credit to help me buy a Roland sampler on a layaway program when I was a poor college student who couldn’t afford gear like that. This changed my music immediately and he made it possible.
- I am moved when I see people responding to this album- it felt like a big gamble and sometimes I was afraid I was in "over my head" when I made this music but I also had a lotttttt of fun making itThe Soft Pink Truth - Is It Going To Get Any Deeper Than This? The deepest dance odyssey, a spiritual celebration, funky and jazzy and brightly psychedelic. One of my favorite albums of the decade so far.
- There are records with covers and then there’s THIS record cover
- Oi! Time to put some SPT into SuPer Tuesday! Thanks to the help of many friends I’m breathless with joy at announcing a NEW album by The Soft Pink Truth: “Shall We Go On Sinning So That Grace May Increase?” Out on Thrill Jockey May 1st. Peep the LP w art by @EdSunspot here:
- Surprise! There's a NEW new Soft Pink Truth record! It's called "Am I Free To Go?" and it's a covers record of crust classics by Nausea, Doom, Aus-Rotten, Totalitär, Discharge and more! It's a "name your price" benefit record for antifa legal defense.
- I am stunned and saddened to learn that Juan Mendez (Silent Servant / member of Sandwell District) has died. A truly original and gifted producer of electronic music. R.I.P.
- 💦 SURPRISE! I've made a double album of new SPT music! 🍾 Featuring artwork by @EdSunspot and fourteen guest musicians, "Is It Going To Get Any Deeper Than This?" comes out on @thrilljockey in October, but you can hear the summery first single right here: thesoftpinktruth.bandcamp.com/album/is-it-go…
- They want us scared. They want us to retreat, to be ashamed, to shrink back, to be on the defensive, to take less. They want public space itself to be re-zoned for straight cis people- as if that weren’t already the case! We need to refuse, resist, & insist upon being ourselves.
- R.I.P. Mike Huckaby, one of the best to ever do it. I wish this country had the healthcare safety net in place for everyone, whether they are just folks or real deal musical legends.
