The election of George Galloway is not a step forward for the left. He fought the election on a platform of thinly-veiled transphobia and homophobia, appealing to religious social conservatism and nationalism. We need a left that fights consistently for equality, everywhere.

It would be great to know if people who make such arguments believe workers in the USSR should have demanded it stop arming the Vietnamese resistance against the US in the 60s and 70s. There is a tankie version of such argument, ie USSR/Vietnam good and US/Ukraine bad.
