    So the problem with the US trade deficit is that we're losing jobs, so we put on tariffs that make unemployment go up. And if that doesn't work, we put on more. Drilling holes in the boat to let the water out. Back to 'beatings continue until morale improves' policy.

    The Fed has failed to provide any research over the last several years showing that inflation is a function of rates.

    The public debt is nothing more than the $ spent by gov that haven't yet been used to pay taxes. They sit in the economy as cash and as $ in reserve accounts and securities accounts (tsy secs) on the Fed's books. It functions as the net money supply.
