They kidnapped her off the streets then sent her into the sky in a tiny space tomb. Her heartbeat raced to 200+ beats per minute and never came down to normal before she died 7 hours later when the air ran out. History will condemn the atrocities we've inflicted on animals.

68 years ago today, Laika the dog was launched into space by the Soviet Union to become the first animal to orbit the Earth. No plans were made for her return and she died a few hours later due to overheating and stress.

Just a reminder that thousands of dogs at Ridglan remain trapped in conditions like this. A judge found there was overwhelming evidence of criminal abuse. But the prosecutors in Wisconsin (Tim Gruenke and Marci Kurtz) have blocked efforts to save them. Stay tuned for more.

After 60 years of torturing dogs, Ridglan Farms' breeding operation is shutting down. But the work is not yet done. We need to ensure every last dog from Ridglan is placed in a loving home. And the research arm must close, too. Still, monumental progress. And y'all did it.
