GH @github has deleted repo of libmdbx, database engine used by Erigon family of nodes. Likely because of US sanctions against Russia and/or @ptsecurity.
Welcome to brave new world.
- Akula is blazing fast
- Its database is compressible to 50-60 GB or even less, with pruning
- Rust has iOS toolchain available
- MDBX should work on iOS

Unpopular opinion: the increasingly messy, fragmented Ethereum L2 landscape is going to kill the ecosystem entirely and drive more and more applications and developers to monolithic/“integrated” ecosystems like Solana.
Ethereum is as toast as Bitcoin if this is accepted. The only proposed way to scale Ethereum is through corrupt centralized L2s. L1 sharding is not even mentioned anymore.
We are a veteran team of ex-Ethereum core developers - and fathers of @ErigonEth and @AkulaApp - stepping in to bring all our prowess to @FantomFDN.

Just imagine if you had a unified L1 EVM env with negligible costs to do what you want. Not bending over backwards to gas schedule.
But wait, there is one actually. @FantomFDN, with even better node software launching in prod soon.
No one is talking about this but rollups are such a paradigm shift for dev experience. I’m only starting to realize this because it’s my first time building an L2-first protocol.

Fantom's new Rust node, Ballet, will sport (as benchmarked) up to 100x faster implementation of Lachesis algorithm. Lachesis epochs are processed in as little as 100ms by Ballet.
Moreover, all database design benefits pioneered by @ErigonEth will power Ballet as well.
By the way, @paradigm, your legal compliance not screaming about libmdbx - a *sanctioned* piece of code yet? Your copypasta depends on it and my Rust bindings. @n0computer for example refused to use it for their IPFS impl.
