I once read that your manager has a greater impact on your health than your doctor and I think about it a lot

This might sound obvious, but I'll articulate it anyway: even if hosting is not (yet) your thing, it's also totally possible to build a vibrant social circle by being a good, gracious guest — someone whose presence helps other guests have an even better time
hosting is vastly underrated as a way to build a vibrant social circle!!!

This is probably one of the best cards I've ever seen about grief.

"Grief, I've learned, is really just love. It's all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go." (Jamie Anderson)

Little known fact: it's possible to anonymously view other people's profiles without paying for premium; you just have to be okay with not being able to see who viewed yours. Personally I find the trade-off totally worth it. Also I hate LinkedIn with the fire of a thousand suns.

It's obviously a broad brush statement that doesn't and won't apply to everyone in all circumstances, but definitely reflects a scary nugget of truth A bad manager (and bad company culture, which often is a breeding ground for incompetent managers) can literally make you sick

A good manager, on the other hand, can subtly contribute to your health in positive ways by doing things like acknowledging your needs, providing opportunities for you to grow and feel valued, helping prevent and manage burnout / ensuring you get rest, minimizing your stress, etc

It baffles me, given this reality, how lightly many companies and people take management There are so many requirements and hoops we have to jump through before working on products and businesses, but not nearly the same level of scrutiny applies before working on other *people*
