- Yesterday, 18 staffers, freelancers, and contract workers at VICE and Refinery29 were laid off. They are exceptional talents and would be a valuable addition to your publications. Follow them. Hire them. Here they are:
- Today VICE, VICE News, and Refinery29 lost many talented staffers who created groundbreaking, culture-shifting work. We are devastated to see them go. Please consider hiring these immensely brilliant individuals. They would be an asset to any news room:
- It's been over a month since VICE conducted mass layoffs and filed for bankruptcy — our members have not yet received a dollar of the severance they're contractually owed. We're outraged to learn that the timeline to pay that severance has been pushed back at least another month.
- Laid-off VICE employees are yet to receive a single dollar in severance because of the company's bankruptcy filing. Some of them have been left struggling to make ends meet, and that's why we need your help to support them.
- VICE Union is devastated by today's mass layoffs affecting dozens of unit members and around 100 employees overall. These workers are suffering the consequences of years of poor decisions they played no part in.
- Since VICE management has yet to explicitly say so, we will: VICE LIVE has been cancelled, and our union is working hard to ensure members losing their jobs get fair severance packages. Media unions cannot prevent layoffs, but they can soften the blow. Organize your newsroom.
