- Thank you my dear friend 🙏🏼Honoring Margrethe Vestager Ten years ago, European Commission President Juncker nominated a Danish politician to be Minister for Competition. At the time, a few in the somewhat insular competition community wondered whether Margrethe Vestager was up to the job.
- A solid team to take Europe forward on its path towards prosperity and social fairness 💪 I wish all Commissioners the best in this new, decisive mandate.The new European Commission led by Ursula von der Leyen has been approved! Today the European Parliament voted on the new college of commissioners, which will he proposing EU policies for the next five years.
- Our AI office and 9 partner AI safety institutes pool expertise to ensure AI systems are safe and trustworthy for us all. This shows the results of continuous cooperation with our partners and my colleague @GinaRaimondo. Very important to continue this great initiative.This week, we launched the International Network of AI Safety Institutes with an inaugural convening in San Francisco. Together with our partners, we’re working to advance safe, secure, and trustworthy AI innovation around the world.
- We welcome the creation of the European Cloud Competition Observatory by @cispe_cloud, as part of the settlement agreement with @Microsoft. 👉ECCO will help to limit unfair licensing practices in the cloud market. That means more affordable choice for all 🇪🇺 cloud customers.

- .@Meta tied its classified ads service Facebook Marketplace to its personal social network @facebook + it imposed unfair trading conditions on competitors (eg Vinted, eBay, Le Bon Coin & others) This breaches @EU_Competition rules. We fine @Meta €797.8 M for abusing dominance.
- Today we approve funding for 5 projects that will address defence capability gaps in 🇪🇺 & increase support to 🇺🇦 with additional defence equipment. This is the 1st time we use EU budget to support Member States in commonly procuring defence products 💪
- Posting of workers is part of the single market. Our proposed e-declaration portal will help e.g: 👉reduce businesses’ admin burden 👉 facilitate their compliance with existing rules 👉make it easier for labour inspectors to enforce rules 🗞️shorturl.at/U7j7y
