    Newly disabled 20-somethings never properly informed by their governments about #LongCovid are confused and angry. "All I was warned about is that I could die if I had comorbidities & [was] old. Had I known it could destroy my life I would have taken more precautions." #COVID19

(Vent/Rant) I keep seeing new people joining LH communities in 2024, they have never heard of long covid and had no idea it could give you severe permanent/chronic symptoms. I didn't know what long covid was either in 2022 even though first wavers already struggled in 2021. All I was warned about is that I could die if I had commorbidities and old. Had I known it could destroy my life I would have taken more precautions. Now these people are in their 20's, vaccinated, they caught covid once or twice and are now bedridden with neuromuscular disorders and vascular issues. There are still no warnings about long covid outside of our communities. People really have no clue that you could be young, fit, healthy and still end up permanently disabled

    <10% of people were masked yesterday at Canadian Tire & Choices. My fellow maskers were mostly older people, wearing cloth or surgical masks which did not seal well enough to their faces. A pregnant cashier thanked me quietly for masking. She's afraid. I gave her an N95. #bcpoli

    Got a Novavax shot today. Pharmacist lamented the waste. 10 doses/vile, good for 12h once opened & few people booking Novavax. Frustrating BC immunization booking system isn't smart enough to group these appointments together in the same day. Staff were bare faced.

    Strep is airborne. Influenza is airborne. COVID-19 is airborne. Clean indoor air & respirators stop the spread. We nearly eliminated flu with mask mandates a few years back, even with sub-par masks & enforcement. Now, we just eliminate children. #preventabledeaths #bcpoli #bced

    Sent to VCH staff on Thursday, from Dr. Daly: 🚨 There have now been 5 deaths in children under 10 in BC 60 cases of iGAS in 2023 in <20 year olds - 3× the number in 2022. 46 of those cases were in children <10 Severe disease in <20 is higher at 38%, compared to 25% overall.

    Relieved to finally receive a call to book a cardiology appt. COVID safety? Spoke w/ manager. Medical masks; no CO2 checks; no HEPA. My respirator will be permitted. The clinic has 13 cardiologists! Do any of them wear respirators? "Just one," she said. I booked with that guy.

    What do you know? Dr. Jennifer Russell (BC PHO Dr. Henry's counterpart) in New Brunswick modelled high efficacy masking at the lectern today! She didn't remove it while delivering updates or responding to questions. Easily heard through her mask. #covid19NB #covid19bc #bcpoli
