    when i first moved to london, i kept wondering why people didn’t sprint to catch the train when they heard it coming… then i realized the tube comes every 1-2 min instead of every 20 min like the f train i took in nyc

    deeply regretting the terrible mistake of booking an airbnb for my holiday. airbnb is now essentially inferior to hotel in every way: price, convenience, cleanliness, comfort, amenities. and reviews can no longer be trusted for anything.

    i’m mad that everything about the internet that was fun & useful 10 years ago is broken now. this site, obviously. reviews are astroturf lies. search is ai hallucination. no place to share with friends & family without influencer / meme / polarized content overrunning the feed.

    i think we should stop giving our ai bots female names (alexa, siri) and give them names from the old white boys club (john, james, chad) in honor of how overconfident and annoying they are even when they’re completely wrong or making stuff up

    another variant on meritocracy myth: i used to think i could get ahead of the disrespect & misogyny i experienced as a woman in tech by working really hard and getting really good at what i do. HA now i know that my being competent makes insecure men even more resentful and mean.

    can confirm, i have been the female interviewer that was totally dismissed or ignored multiple times. bummer was when hiring managers rejected my feedback on this / told me it wasn’t salient…
